My system specs Here are my system specs Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) Processor, MMX, 3dNow, ~1.4GHz Memory: 1024MB RAM System Manufacturer: HP Pavilion 04 System Model: D7210Y-ABA 9905 Operating System: Windows XP Home (5.1, Build 2600) Board: Asus Tech A7M266-M 1.06 Bus Clock: 200mHz BIOS: Phoenix Technologies LTD 3.08 08/31/2001 DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0b Display Device Name: NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 Chip Type: GeForce4 Ti 4600 DAC Type: Integrated RAMDAC Approx. Total Memory (video 128MB I also have over 90Gb of free harddrive space. BodyShop runs rather slowly for me and often goes into "program not responding" mode when I try to close it. I have to Ctrl Alt Del and End Task several times and it takes up to 10 minutes to shut down. Which is annoying when I want to open another program like EverQuest. I've found I cannot run BodyShop and EQ at the same time. At least I can run Photoshop 5.0 LE at the same time though. I'm about to see if adjusting the compatibility works.
I forgot to mention that I can only run BodyShop and Photoshop at the same time if I open Bodyshop first. If I have Photoshop open then Bodyshop will not open. The compatibility thing seemed to work once but the next time I tried to close bodyshop it locked up and would not close again. I think it even loaded slower after I changed compatibility.
Have you checked for the latest drivers for your GeForce card? also you need to get the latest version of DirectX 9c http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx?url=/windows/directx/downloads/default.htm I have a quite similar system (but with slightly faster cpu and more video ram ) and it runs BodyShop and PhotoShop with no problems (plus numerous other programs usually ... tho' I still shut down most stuff before playing hiigh demand games like SC4) Hope this sorts you out!
Thanks. I never load the video card drivers from Microsoft. I made that mistake once and will never do it again. It screwed over my computer so badly that I had to do a system restore because the drivers from the page were corrupted. Alot of people I talked to had the same problem with the ones from Microsoft's page. I check the NVIDIA page for updates and get my drivers updated frequently. I'll have to go and load the new dirextx thing. I just hope that the newest version of directx is ok with EQ and Starwars. Going to find out now... Again, thank you. Updating: I just loaded the directx thing but when it went to install it said one of the files necessary could "not be trusted" and failed to install. ugh. I'll have to figure out what went wrong and mess with it later.
LOL Suc ... I've had that sort of trouble before. I think that you really do need DirectX version 9c tho ... and NVIDIA is the best place to get it as you can get the latest drivers at the same time. DirectX should be backwards compatible so you ought not have new problems with existing software ... now where have I heard that before?
Okay, I managed to get my hands on an inexpensive ATI Radeon 9600 and find room in my budget for it, and now Body Shop runs fine. So now they just have to release the game. NOW NOW NOW NOW.
Ok, I FINALLY got the directx9.0c to install properly and now when I tell BodyShop to close it does it promptly. Thank you so much for the help!
My pleasure, Suc. It always pays to check the really basic stuff first. LOL I just saw a TV computer game show (in the UK) and it showed some really serious bits of TS2 action. Thank goodness we're down to T minus 6 days is what I say ....
okay Idont have sp2 now since I used system restore to get rid of some errors and some big nasty bugs, but I'm fine.
my AMD works fine Processor: 1830Mhz which is a AMD XP 2500+ Memory:1024DDR System Manufacturer: Custom (Soyo motherboard i believe) System Model: Custom Operating System: WINXP PRO DirectX Version:9.0 or better Video Card NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600 256RAM by BEST DATA BodyShop works great on mine. game runs smooth too, havent had a problem yet.

I Have a AMD 2.4GHZ Processor i have no problems with body shop And sims 2 also runs fine on a AMD 1.0 GHZ little slow as sims 2 is very memory hungry i have 768 and sims 2 takes most of that to load the game

Soon as you can afford it slap in something like an NVIDIA FX5600 with at least 128MB (pref 256MB) dsiplay memory and boy, will you see and improvement.
weird resolutions problem My system specs: AMD A64 3200+ Clawhammer | DFI LANPARTY UT nF3 250Gb | 1024 MB OCZ El Platinum, MSI nVidia 6800, Audigy 2 ZS I've tried using this compatibility mode thingie, but it still doesn't work. Sims 2 plays great, and I've never had any previous body shops installed before. The program starts in a Window and the resolution keeps bouncing back and forth. It looks like a 2x pixel enlargement... Every few seconds I see all I'm supposed to... So I can't use the prog at all, and within the Sims, the editor doesn't seem to have all the functions. Any suggestions? The body shop is the main reason I want to play Sims 2. I'd hate to go through the pain of trying to return the software (hey - I didn't find the EULA agreeable - haha). Thanks!
That's a pretty hot piece of hardware you got there. Surprised to hear that BS isn't running. Question. You're not trying to run BS while TS2 is running are you? Cos that will fail. Otherwise it does seem a bit odd that TS2 runs fine but BS won't ... I guess maybe that 64 bit doodad is tripping over its own self ... :bunny:
The Sims itself is running great. But the editor in there doesn't seem to be as great... I checked my version on my laptop, and it worked fine (minus the lack of RAM & processing power).... I guess I'll try to update everything on my PC and then come back and ***** if it doesn't work. Hope that it will though.
Here is the screenshot of what I'm experiencing: a is normal, b is what I see most of the time... It was really hard to get a screenie of the normal look - it switches fast, and even though I thought I had it, it showed me b. http://www.warren-wilson.edu/~bertram/sim2a.jpg http://www.warren-wilson.edu/~bertram/sims2b.jpg I'm about to return this stupid game to the store. I have the deluxe DVD edition, if that makes a difference. So confused
