    The Sims 2 DVD Edition!!

found this to be an awesome find. and considering that according to ebgames, its the same price as the standard edition, its highly recommended.

Does the DVD edition/version require a DVD drive to play the game on? Or is it an edition you can stick in your DVD player and watch extra features on your tv?

    True...

Thats what I was wondering... What differences would be on it.. and would it make the game go slower or faster? and maybe can you play it on an actual DVD Player... You never know with Maxis and EA Games working together!

To play the DVD version of the game, your computer (To set things straight.:p ) needs to have a DVD ROM Drive. You cannot use a DVD player to play the game (Although if the special features come on their own disk you may be able to.:D ). Still the game is on a DVD. If your computer doesn't have a DVD ROM/DVD RW there's no point buying the DVD version of the game. (Unless you also buy the CD version of the game. )

Hope I cleared some things up here. :)

And in the Maxis 7/2/04 chat they said that it would take 4 CDs to install the game, as opposed to just one DVD.

Not bad considering MS Flight Sim 2004 takes 4 cd's to install.

    ?

I may be just dreaming but I think I remember reading an article about how the DVD was coming out later than the CD... So does anyone know the date of the DVDs release?

I really hope it comes out the same day as the CD (now September 14th *Amazon.com*) because I know I will want the DVD but I don't want to wait any longer... :disappointed: :mads:

Well I hope it comes out the same day... the only thing is getting my dad to pre-order it for me... LoL.... I told him as Maxis said... that you need to preorder it.... but that just made him go oh.... and I dont know what else to say....

Well I just ordered my DVD of the Sims 2 and it does come out the same day as the CD but there's one thing... With shipping it'll come like a week later... I know this is no big deal but I've waited long enough! Haha... That is unless I choose the $15 shipping for next day! Ha! The thing I don't understand is... Why don't they ship it out to the internet providers earlier so that the game is shipped to your homes around the same times that the stores release it... Just wishful thinking I guess.

This is just one thing I hate about the Sims, there is always something better if you wait a bit longer... Like the (what is it now? 5!) deluxe editions... I paid full price for my games and now I see you can buy about half of the series for $50!

yeah I thought about that too... If I didnt get The Sims and Livin' Large twice I would have 140 with me right now... and dont forget House Party... I could have got the new special... Get Mega-Deluxe and a free expansion... and I would only have to pay 50 for a $130 pack...
