A thought about aging among households

Theres this one thought thats been nagging at me lately... Say you spend all your time in one Sims house... You go through all there life cycles and such... And of course you neighbors and friends would age too right? So Its not like your an adult while your "best friend" is a kid still. But then, when you go to another Sim house, would the occupants still be the same age as the last time you chgecked on them? Cause that wouldn't make sense. But if they aged along with the other family, you would have missed a huge portion of their lives. I'm sure that this has already been worked out by the game designers. But its really nagging me :ermm: . Any clue of how it could be done :ponder: ?

you that is the same thing that is on my mind! I would like to know that same question! I really don't know how they do it. But here is my guess. If you play one family, everyone ages progress, and if you don't play a family for awhile they don't age, but if they go to your house they might be the same age as your other sims in the house that you are playing. Who knows!

Houses which are not being played do not age. Only the house you are playing will have aging (and that only if you leave it on while you are there.)

With that scenerio, if you move grandma out of the house into her own place, and continue to play the granddaughter's house, when you finally go to grandma's house she may be the same age as her granddaughter.

A scenerio similar to that was suggested in one of the chats. They told the person it was possible but that if you didn't want that sort of thing to happen that you need to play all the houses, rather than just stick to one.

I think I'll have to be juggling between playing different families a lot more often then! I wonder if I'll remember to switch to neighborhood and change houses... otherwise I'll have a ton of catching up to do all the time to keep my families roughly evened out in time! :p

Yeah, I usually only stick to one... but if the case is as Kat explained I will want to go throughout the neighborhood... maybe 1 week each household then change!

Do you suppose we'll have to make ourselves little timeline charts and set timers to go off and remind us to switch families? Haha!! :p

That way you can bring success to one family and failure to another. LOL;)

I will have to have a reminder pop up every now and then. So that way I can get all the sims on the same track!

It'd be weird to have on Sim be an old grampa, while his best friend is still in diapers. That was what I was afriad of. And if it works they way Kat said... Well, we'll just say i'm disappointed with Maxis.

But you don't have to have that kind of scenerio happen. You can avoid it entirely by just playing the other houses where your Sims have friends rather than sticking with just one house.

I think it would be much more disturbing if the houses continued to age even though you didn't play them. Think of all the fun times that you would miss with those families!

I think they should have everyone age the same pace... and in order to like not miss something... invite people to parties, have the new events in the newspaper or something like that...

If you get what I get put a: :D

    Aging?

Well at least with the families not aging you can try different things with each family. That will give me a chance to tryout each one of the new aspirations and try to unlock the special features that they offer..

Yeah it would be bad if you'd miss all the kids growing up in the neighborhood. I'm want to make all the kids grow up together through all the stages of life. Especially the teen stage will be great!

I think it would be neat (although the game would run like utter crap) if the entire neighborhood was easy to access at all times. You can walk your Sims to someone elses house, and have all their Sims there. You could have like a llittle arrow think near the bottom, to cycle thorugh familys. And if the family wasnt selected, you wouldnt see through the roof of the house. That way all the people would age at the same rate, and you could still play them and watch them grow.
