Wouldnt it be cool.... Hi all! I am a huge fan of the Sims, I have the Deluxe version, Unleashed and Superstar. But there are some things that have always bothered me about the game. The roofs and walls! No matter how you build your house, you cant build on a diagonal wall, and the roof will always be on all sides. Now, I know that the game is done and ready to be released, but heres some thoughts: It would be great if you could build on the diagonal walls, especially windows and doors, but what if you could build skylights? Or a pool on the second floor? Or some more carpets, for ***** sake! However I love the idea that now in S2 you actually watch your people grow older, leave home, die and so on, so in that way, its a lot more realistic. Ideas for new careers: Artist(sculptor, painter), Musician(i.e, making your own band and try to get contracts) or maybe a Builder of some sorts. The idea here is to actually have the chance(optional) to follow your sim to work and make him/her progress. Just some thoughts
Building houses will be very different in TS2 than they were in TS1. In TS2 we'll have much more control over the roofs especially. While it will have an "auto-roof" feature, you can also put the roof on the way you want it. And it will handle diagonal walls much more easly. With the diagonal walls you can now put windows and doors in them (although you still can't put objects there.) Stairs are now modular so that you can place straight, U shaped or L shaped ones, or have houses with split levels. I don't believe you can put in skylights, but you can put in dormer windows. No pool on the second floor, though. (That doesn't work well in real houses either because there needs to be a lot of support to hold up water. Shoot, in some places you can't have a big aquarium or a water bed because the floor isn't reinforced to support them.) There are a lot of new building features that should be really exciting in TS2.
Yes, I'm looking forward to the building too. There is so much new construction in real life that you just couldn't create in sims1... like a victorian with a widow's walk etc.
We salute you! Well, most of my wishes for S2 will come through, I understand. Itll be great. I still play the game, not as much for making my sims better, but to see what kind of outrageous houses I can build. I have several, though, with large and open rooms and windows. One I am particular proud of. Its a yellow brick house, 2 storeys, black slated roof.Ground floor is one big open space except for 2 bathrooms. The floorplan is about 13x22 I think. Then two set of stairs to the upper level(they meet at the top), where there is a master bedroom and a bedrrom for the kid. Now the rest of the first floor is not used, meaning no floor, meaning a huge open space which overlooks the entire house from the first floor. Try it out. Oh, and I used the white stone on the walls inside(they like light rooms) and the huge floor-to-ceiling windows(the big expensive ones) Have fun
Wow, your house you made in sims 1 sounds beautiful, I bet it'll be even nicer in Sims 2 if you built a new version of that same house!! I wish there could be skylights, but at least with so much more control over the roofing we can now have open areas... maybe I can pretend the gaping hole in the roof is a skylight... haha! I'd love to do a pool on a roof someday, one of the hotels I stayed in once had a pool on the roof!
Making houses was always the best part of the Sims. At least I thought it was. I would spend hours making houses. Ill probably spend even longer with the new designs and items in the Sims 2!
