Vacation Homes Does anyone know if you can still have vacation houses in the sims2? I designed a perfect house for "vacationing" purposes and I was wondering if you could still build vacation home getaways for your sims.
I think I vaguely remember something being said about being able to have a second "vacation" house in Sims 2 but I haven't heard anything about it recently. I hope we CAN have them, I want my sims to be able to have a "mountain cabin" or "beach house."
It would be nice to have a "vacation" home. However, I bet that it won't happen until an EP. It seems like this was one of those early things that they mentioned, but it hasn't been confirmed. People have asked it, but the questions get quietly ignored. (Either we've asked the wrong person or they're not talking about it.)
I think Kat is right. This was a feature that Maxis was pretty excited about long long ago. And since then you don't hear about it in any of the previews on the gaming sites (which go into great detail about the game, so I'm SURE it would have been mentioned). Hopefully they can find a way to add it back in if it HAS been taken out, as it would be nice to have a little lakeside cottage in addition to the house in the city. =)
I vaugley remeber hearing that but I never heard anything about it being actually confirmed. At the time it sounded like just a rant.
I heard vacation homes will be in the game, but not like vacation getaways. They'll be used as a second house for the family to use whenever. It will be a great thing to have because the kids can probably move out and use the house for themselves....
From the look of it, I don't think they've updated that section. It still says that the mother goes off to the hospital to have a baby (when we've seen video of the "plumbob birth") even though we don't REALLY know which version is in the game. Also, it says that objects will age, which was confirmed as being taken out of the game around the same time that weather was removed.
How do objects age? Would they just get worn out and youd have to buy a new one? If so, I'm glad they took it out. I wouldnt want to lose a $10000 couch to old age.
Same here. That would be really stupid. especially if it had some sort of sentimental value to your sims.
I like how they also made it so you can take items with you when you move. That way you can keep you special items, and not lose your couch for a DIFFERENT stupid reason.
Oh. I didn't know that they kept that option. I thought they took it out when they couldn't have the weather. At least that's what someone else told me. That's cool though.
I cant quite remember where the whole moving thing was listed, but I know I read it somewhere on the official page. Unless that is outdated news and Maxis has changed it since then. But that would be stupid.
Supernova, you are right, I know that I read it too, and very recently. So I'm pretty sure that it's in. I think it pertains to stuff that the Sim uses all the time, like their own bed, wardrobe, toys, computer etc. Maybe even all the objects that are in their "room". It'll be fun to experiment with it, like having two Sims share a room, move one out and see what stuff they take with them.
This is kinda off topic but I didnt want to start a new thread as this question is sorta related to the topic. Can you still have basements or only foundation?
We don't know at this point. The German beta testers weren't able to make basements, but they may have been looking for an automatic way to do it. The Maxis folk said that they did it by bringing up land around the first floor but we don't know if the German folk even tried that. So, we may have to wait and see if we can when we have the game. But that's less than a month away now!
