Now I'm hearing... I've been monitoring the BBS Tech boards at the official SIMS 2 website and I'm reading about a good number of people who never had a problem with the game at all, and now almost a week later their games are crashing or unable to load anymore. Now this is the only forum where I've actually seen people getting help (Thanks Manager Josh!) and i'm curious... is it worth getting a new graphic card for my system to be able to play this game better if there's a good chance that my game will then have this crashing problem? Are the major problems people are having a result of their PC's or does it sound like it's a direct result of the game that a patch could fix? I'd prefer to save the $200 on a new graphic card if a patch is on the way.
Depends on what type of video card you have. If you have a pretty decent modern card, I suggest just saving your money and upgrading ur memory. I ran a test, and well, let's say after I upgraded from 512MB to 1GB, I saw a VERY noticeable performance upgrade.
Okay... Well I have 512 MB 400MHZ DDR SDRAM, and my graphic card is a Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller. In this case what do you suggest would get me the most bang for my buck? More memory or a new graphic card?
Oh no! EGADS!! BOTH!?? Hmmmm... So frustrating having a PC that's less then 10 months old and needing to do both. If I choose one over the other will there still be a noticable difference?
I would choose memory first as that can impact performance overall. the 865G video card is listed as one of the cards that can run sims 2 pretty well, so I'd think memory would be a more wise choice.
