Jobs help Hewwo I just got back from a friend's house where I played TS2 for the first time and I LOVE it. *looks forward to Christmas* I was just wondering if there were any other jobs than science, medical, and entertainment. I know you can write a novel to improve you creativity, but is there a way to become an author? If not, can you be a teacher? Thanks in advance.
Ewwo simstress There are many career "tracks" for sims to follow ranging from those you mentioned to military, police, slacker, criminal, business and sport ... have I missed any? I bet I have. Plus each career path has teen and elder jobs available!
Noticeably Lacking I find it odd that Maxis has once again not included an IT career path! You can be a criminal but not a computer geek!
Yeah, I was glad to see the hacker career in the expansion for the first game but disappointed to not see it in this game! I enjoyed becoming the CEO of my own software business and cashing in big on shares... yumm..
Yes, the teenagers have different jobs that adults don't get, and the same for elders, who I've heard can have retirement type jobs, but I've only played to teens to see they have the different jobs so far. The teen I'm playing is in the Broke family, and he was in the Criminal career with a job as a Hawker, but I changed him to a Medical career job as a Nursing Home Assistant, I think it was... He made only $50 as a Hawker, but now makes $65 in his medical job. I forgot what the third job in the paper he didn't take was, but it was only $50 a day too.
I found it odd that "Cullinary" was there but not "Education". I wanted a couple of my Sims to be teachers. I was glad that the Animal one was not on there, though. LOL
I, too, wanted a computer based career. I like making geeky or nerd characters for some reason. The 3 nerd brothers (lone gunmen) on the strange senario became my favorites for a while. I've made several elder characters and would like the ability on creation to make them "retired" from some field. When created "old" the only option they get in the game is to work part time so they can never be a retired old mad scientist or a retired business tycoon curmudgeon or an old distinguished politician. Maxis gave us many tools to set up a senario but the ability to make defined characters. I've had to preplan and start them as an adult and advance them through a career and let them age and then freeze them at that point in time.
The career tracks appear to be a grab-bag, and not an entirely full one, from TS1 and its expansions. They obviously intend to sell us the rest of the careers as expansions in a crass attempt to milk more money out of people for work that was already accomplished in TS1 and expansions.
