    Indestructible Mortimer?

    Question/curious thing...

My 'problem' is as follows: when I moved my couple into their new house, a whole bunch of neighbours showed up to greet them. Among them, Mortimer Goth, husband of the absentee. Everything was fine and dandy, until Schuldig, one of my Sims, talked to a girl who apparently is either a member of Mortimer's family or a love interest, or whatnot. Schuldig didn't even flirt, just 'chatted', but Mortimer ran up to him, shoved him, and stomped off again. I thought he had left the house, but later, when everyone was gone, he suddenly came down the stairs... apparently, he'd spent all the time upstairs in the hot tub. He eventually did leave and I continued to play.

    So far, no problem.

Until I wanted to let my couple woohoo. Poof! Mortimer appears, yells at them, and stomps off again. He didn't even ring the door bell, just ran straight into the house!

This happened a couple of times. One time, my couple was just sitting at the breakfast table and Mortimer appeared, waited until Schuldig had gotten up again, shoved and insulted him, and disappeared again.

I now had a mission... destroy Mortimer. After grinding his face into the ground.

So far, both my Sims in that particular house, Farfarello and Schuldig, had had a total of 32 fights with Mortimer, of which they won 29. Some happened outside, some inside the house.

...and Mortimer keeps coming back for more! Not only that, but apparently he thinks 'fighting' is the same as 'meaningful social interaction', because each and every time he fought with one of my Sims, he then prances into the house and hangs out. I also got the feeling that the more they fought, the more he came back.

Mortimer... masochist, or just terminally stupid?

I don't really want to delete Mortimer Goth from the neighborhood. But every time I shoo him, he just leaves the room he's shooed from. I sometimes have to ask him three times before I can get him to leave the house entirely.

Anybody else having something similar happen to them? Because I'm really, really weirded out by that behaviour. Both my Sims have him at -75/-90 and -88/-100 respectively.

I haven't had any problems with Mortimer. Of course, I don't think I've ever greeted him when he's approached my lot. Maybe he's pissed off that Bella is missing or something. Or maybe he's just whacked out of his head and he thinks that all women are Bella in some strange fantasy world that he's in, and so that's why he freaks out every time your sims shag. I don't have an answer for you, but the whole situation seems pretty funny. :D

    Do you have a telescope?

If you use it during the day, then you are spying on your neighbours!

If you wnat to use it during the day without spying on Mort, just place the telescope in the other direction! Of course, you are likely to infuriate some other poor sod that way. Just play chess during the day, is my advice. Leave that telescope alone.

And yes, the retribution from the offending sim sometimes take many hours before it's carried out. Took me a while to realize what was happening, lol.

I so far never used the telescope(s) during the day, so spying on a neighbour shouldn't be the problem. What I'd be more interested in knowing or finding out is, is it possible to piss off another Sim who does not belong to the household that much that they finally just stay away? At the rate dear old Morty's going, he'll end up as a permanent punching bag at my house.

And you are sure that no sim used the telescope without the player's consent? Then I have no idea. I have not found any other action that make neighbours visit you.

What might be is the are coincidence that he's passing by anyway, and you just happen to be flirting with someone he's in love with. Hardly plausible, but possible. Check it out.

As far as I know, no. I don't think it works that way.

By the way, I think that the day starts at 6am, one hour before sunrise. Could it be that you looked in teh telescope right before sunrise without realizing that the game had decided that it was daytime allready?

Nope. This particular couple of mine doesn't run on free will, and so far I didn't even send them to stargaze once. Also, the possibility that Mortimer is in love with one of them is nil - I checked the Goth sr. family, and he really dislikes both Farfarello and Schuldig.

It doesn't really bother me all that much, it's more like a particular quirk. This way, I don't have to have them earn job rewards to get a punching bag. They get one coming into their house of its own free will. :D

One time at a community lot, I had two sims woohoo in the dressing room, and when they came out, Mortimer walked up and started repeatedly slapping one of them for no reason. It was really odd. I was thinking maybe it was because he had a crush on one of them, but neither had even had much interaction with him before.

I think he's just old and grumpy and love starved, and he gets random crushes on people and gets upset when they show affection towards others.

*cracks knuckles* Hey, he wants a little action, I can give him that. I maxed out both my Sims' body skills.

Oh my god, I just realized something.
    Ricky is going to die.
He. Is. So. Going. To. Die.

(Just a annoying NPC teen that weasel his way into every family in my neighbourhood without my consent. Always following my teens home from scool when their energy et cetera are at rock bottom or I have planned for them to see someone else.)

some one needs to make a custom boxing ring for sims2 asap. Then we can kick the NPC's arses legitimaly.

Has anyone killed an NPC, becuase I was wondering about what the police do about it. They seem to be more involved in the game this time round so I wondered if any ambulance crew or pigs come to take the body away? Probably not though, silly question really.

I would guess that just the reaper comes, and then you are stuck with the arses ghost.

well I can't say I've had the problem in discussion, but i can confirm his hot tub dedication... I invited 'everyone' while he was outside my house, and he went straight up three floors and planted himself in the tub...

He was there for ages, but eventually i put my teen girl in there with him and there were some minuses above their heads in conversation, and he left... never seen him on that lot again...

I suppose the other thing you could do is crush his will. Play as his family and make his fears come to be... once he's on the low and low he may just stay home and sulk. THen again it could make him more forceful and violent!

I'm gonna have to try that 'crush' thing he gets though, sounds fun!

( SCARE MORTIMER AWAY WITH TEEN GIRLS! :embarrassed: )
