just confused what is the point to all this designing of clothes.am i missing something i see no way to change your clothes accept to the ones you picked when creating you character.so i download all these cool new clothes but what then.?i hope im wording this right.
Just get your Sim to call a taxi and pop over to the neighbourhood boutique. There they can purchase any new clothes you've recently downloaded (drop 'em in your 'C:\Documents and Settings\*your name*\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads' folder). You'll also need to purchase a dresser or armoire for your Sims home. Now they can change into their new outfits whenever they like! Devil
NEW CLOTHES! The joy of the mall... The best way to get new outfits is to travel to a boutique and buy new sets (200 simoleans a pop), go home and install an armiore or dresser, then you have all your new fashion choices available.
thanks alot for your reply.i did try this with my teenager but she was unable to change into them it just gave the standard choices like everday swimsuit etc and she bought a everyday outfit so i click that and she changes into the same outfit she had before am i doing this wrong? again thank you very much for taking the time to reply.!
I dont want to make another thread unless I have to, but I have a few questions as well. I've been messing around with Body Shop now for about a month and I've only made 2 shirts. A couple times I've tried to put different shoes or edit the pants to look better, but nothing has been good in my opinion. Q1: How do I go about editing a Sim's face in pshop? Q2: How do I make tattoos on a Sim's skin? (i.e. arm) Q2: How can I switch shoes from a guy with boots to a guy with sandals, etc? Q3: Has there been anything released for 3d molding so I can mess with meshes and create for example baggy pants? Q4: I've downloaded content off this website and I was wondering how to load them in body shop. Im not looking to plagiarize anything at all, I'm curious about a few things that were made and how I could do the same. I've been skinning since 2001 and I want to make some superb skins for the Sims 2. Q5: My last question is about the nude patch. I got the nude patch the first day this game came out, now some web sites have edited the female form to make it look, well not nipples. I can load these in body shop, it only has two skin tones, but how do I get them into the game to replace them with the nude patch or have them at least switch into "pajamas" and have it be that? If I don't get any replys, I'll post this as a thread. Thanks.
never mind i went back and bought more clothes with my teenager after reading on a forum that you have to buy two or more outfits for the new option to show up in the dresser(plan outfit).it works fine know thanks...
A new thread probably would have been easier, since your subject and the original thread subject aren't the same. How you edit the Sim's face depends on what you want to do to it. The face itself is not generated by the .bmp (which is what you can alter) but by the underlying facial structure. That you can alter in Body Shop itself using the sliders. The .bmp for the skin is where you would put things like moles, beauty marks, etc. However, the .bmp for costume makeup will work as well if you wanted something temporary. There are two ways of doing tatoos. One involves the .bmp for the clothing and the other the .bmp for the skin itself. In terms of the sandals vs boots, you can change the bump file to make them have different contours (up to a point). But basically, the way to change them is to change the .bmp file. Basically, paint them in place. Here are some links to various tutorials: http://thesims2.ea.com/help/ (has a list with several of the official tutorials) http://members.fortunecity.com/lpx/tutorials/hair.html http://www.geocities.com/thisday2005/tutorial.html http://home.planet.nl/~Dobbe065/Tutorials/Denim1.html http://members.fortunecity.com/lpx/tutorials/bumpmap.html http://www.jedifiction.com/simsstuff/tutorials2.html You might find them helpful since some of them are directly related to your questions. No tools have been released yet for changing the underlying meshes. We're hoping that Maxis will give us something of that sort eventually, but I suspect that the Homecrafter-like program and the object making tool are going to come out long before that (since they've actually been mentioned by Maxis people in chats, whereas only us fans have talked about something to make clothing meshes.) Some of the skins you may not be able to "look into". The new version of Body Shop doesn't let you export files that have been substantially changed, which means that it's very hard to look at ones which have been made by other people. (Shoot, I can't even export my own that had changes in the bump or alpha files, only the ones which have merely been recolored.) If you have downloaded the clothes and put them into the game, they will also show up in Body Shop as the game and Body Shop share those files. Please keep in mind that this site does not discuss adult themes such as nudity, nude patches, and the like. For questions about that sort of thing, another forum (which we would not link to from here as that would violate our forum policies) would be a better place to find information on that subject.
