lots & houses upload nightmare well the new sims 2 game is a blast ..i think i found myself playing this game to dang near in the morning ..time flies when your playing this game wow ..really nice improvements overall til you start getting into the custom features of the game ...so heres my stink and nightmare :confusion: Went to the sims 2 community site and saw alot of cool lots .. so i figure il down load them manaully ..into a custom file of my own and backed them up on disk ..that way when i turn my game computer on i got backed up sims 2 stuff ...anyway ..i think i downloaded alot of cool lots turned on the game open them up ..thinking the package installer would kick in and wella i got my cool lots in the lot catalog ...well i didnt see them ..so i pull out the prima guide ..oh yes i bought that to ..since i had a dummy cap on ..with this game ...now the guide says place the file manually into your my document/ea games /sims 2 /folder ..did that ..no lots ..:confusion: even tried to open each lot and install still no lots ...in the lot catalog ..i even got so pissed i uninstall the whole dam game thinking it was my computer ..system ...and it wasnt the problem ..so if anybody got answer to the upload manually stink nightmare every help is welcomed , because in the old sims games having the power of uploading made it famous because the idea's of that shows in the new sims 2 game ..it would be nice if they just have a free download for a package installer were you had a seperate tool just for that ... and i also found out you have to manually dig out that bodyshop tool ..which is cool ...but heck for some folks there not very good with filing systems ..and everybodys system is not the same either ..so if anybody got a clue on getting manually material in with out sacrificing your game it would be a big help ...
Did you activate Body Shop before you tried to install the packages? Also, what file extension were the downloads? The file extensions .sims2pack and .sims2skins are self installing. If you didn't have package installer activated (which may not work until you've launched Body Shop), then they might not self install. But then putting them in the Downloads file won't work. Only .package files go in the downloads folder. (I think that's what you mean by the "my document/ea games /sims 2 /folder".) Another thing that people have found is that you can't use the My Documents called "all users" or "shared". It must be in the user My Documents. (And if the same computer is being used by more than one family, the downloads must be put into each user My Documents, not just one.) Hopefully this will get you going.
Got the heads up on downloading the lots wrote ea support ..they said you can only up load one house at a time everytime you play than upload sets of lots ..i guess so you wont get a curupt file ..when uploading ..um...
That's good to know. At least then you'd know if you had a problem house. (Some of them are corrupt, some of them may be corrupted during download and some just seem to cause glitches.)
