the 2nd house I read somewhere that it`s possible 2 buy the second house 4 the same family. Is it really possible???? If yes, then tell me pls how 2 do it!!!! I can`t find out how 2 make it possible =((( And the other question..... How 2 clone houses????? I wanted 2 put houses on all of the lots but there r no any houses left in the bin... =( And I`m 2 lazy 2 build my own..... Is it possible 2 fill the bin again or somehow 2 clone existing houses????
Yes and no. A family, as defined by TS1 standards, can own and live in a single house. You can't buy two houses, then move between them by calling the Taxi, or whatever. However, in TS2, families can grow larger, grow older, and move out. When the kids grow up and move out, they can buy another house, and they'll still look upon their original parents as "family", although they won't fit the TS1 definition of "family". If you JUST want to refill your Lot bin with more copies of the stock houses that were originally there, you're going to have to perform some file manipulation. This is going to be tricky. Ready? Here goes. To refill your lot catalog back to where it came from to begin with... Quit TS2. Copy all of the files from: <TS2-INSTALL-DIR>\TSDATA\RES\USERDATA\LOTCAT~! to C:\DOCUME~1\<YOUR-USER-NAME>\MYDOCU~1\EAGAME~1\THESIM~1\LOTCAT~1 You will now once again have all of the 12 houses that came with the game at your disposal to be placed once again upon your neighborhood. Of course, having to do this procedure, which requires quitting TS2, is a nuisance. Let's make sure this never happens again. Once your files are copied, select all, rightclick, Properties, and check "READ ONLY". TS2 will no longer be able to delete the files, so they'll always be there no matter how many times you paste the lot down, although you may have to enter and exit the neighborhood view, perhaps by hopping to another neighborhood, to force a reread. Still, it beats restarting the program, right? Note: The solution above is inelegant and hamfisted. It flies against the original intent of the developer. It is typical me. If you do something weird afterwards, you may simply screw up your game, and I won't be responsible for this. Don't say I didn't warn you. Cloning existing houses is a similar process. Let's say you HAVE an existing house. It should be, at least at the moment, uninhabited. Package the lot. Quit the game. Now, go into your directory: C:\DOCUME~1\<USERNAME>\MYDOCU~1\EAGAME~1\THESIM~1\PACKAG~1 Doubleclick your package lot file(s). Now go back to: C:\DOCUME~1\<YOUR-USER-NAME>\MYDOCU~1\EAGAME~1\THESIM~1\LOTCAT~1 and write-protect everything as before, including your new files, making it impossible for TS2 to delete them and allowing you to clone them to heart's content. And don't try this with inhabited lots, you will screw up your game. Actually, you probably shouldn't try this at all, since it could screw up your game, but I do this, and it doesn't screw up my game, so you should be safe, as long as you don't do anything I wouldn't do. And stop posting in giant purple text. It's annoying.
Like JMP said, you can't have 1 family own more than one. Now, you can break the family up and move a portion of them to another house. I had a teenager grow up and take his teen-aged siblings with him, leaving the parents and the smaller children. As for filling up your house bin, there are many, many sites online where people build houses and you can upload them. Heck, look at many of the signatures of people who post on this board. Try The Sims Exchange, something like that. There's no real need for you to force your families to live in the same pre-fab cookie cutter neighborhood just because you don't want to build houses. There are too many wonderful and inventive houses built for you. Oh, BTW, I love your font.
@JMPescado Thank u very much =) But I`d better try downloding the houses, cuz I don`t want by game screwed up P.S. I like my font and violet color of it I don`t really wanna change it =) @Kristalrose thanx, I didn`t think of it =) U know, I`m new 2 the game... so I have stupid questions sometimes....
