Don't want to be old...it's possible? Hi, I'm just new with Sims 2 and find the game nice, but in sims 1, you can play unlimited time with your familly (I think) and in sims 2, you came old so fast. I play like 1-2 days with the same familly and I'm already old. How I can turn off that or deal with that? Mean, I can't have time to go higher in my job, don't get big house, full cash etc... Any one can help me or just tell me what to do or a link to read. Thanks folks
There is a cheat to turn off aging, but I don't reccomend it. And I don't remember what to type anyway. However, you can stay young forever without cheating. Buy the aspiration reward called Elexir of life. If used when the sim is in gold or platinum, it give you 15 days. Quite a lot. And it only cost 31.000 ASP points. A little less, even.
to get the cheat bar to appear, when you are playing the game, press the buttons "ctrl + shift + c" together, and the box will appear. In the box type "aging -off" to turn off aging. If you want to turn it back on, just press "ctrl + shift + c" to get the box again and type "aging -on". Hope this helps
If I remember well (long time since I've been there) you don't need to use the "aging off" cheat on the command prompt. The aging setting is available in the Options...
Don't keeping your Sims young mess with the program and cause the "jump bug" to occur? I've read that in other forums.
No, the jump bug comes from having "too many" memories. And you can easily get that without extra time, and you can live forever without getting so many memories. Besides, there's a unoffocial patch that solves the jump bug. I use it. It have been posted on this forum before.
I gotta agree with Xenu on this one. I prefer not to use the "cheats" unless absolutely necessary, since they can "break" the game. The Elixer of life is very easy to get, and if you've got more than one Sim, you can have more of it than you know what to do with. If you've got two sims with a decent relationship, watch for the option for 1 sim to "Flirt" with another to come up (often happens after fulfilling a "chat" desire). That's worth 750 aspiration points. (If you can get both sims to do it, bonus!) After you flirt, there's like an 80% chance that the next roll of desires will end with a "kiss" AND a "make out" with their significant other. So when you "Make Out" they'll get the 1000 points for the kiss, then the 3000 points for the "make out." You're now up to 4750. After the make-out, the roll will almost ALWAYS land on a desire for "woo-hoo." So woo-hoo the little monkeys, and you'll get another 3K (possibly more, I forget) and you're up to 7750. With my sims, I can do this several times in a single day. If you can get both sims to "sync" up, you'll have more points than you know what to do with. Right now, both of my sims are still on day 1, and I've got two full elixers, and about 150K aspiration points on each of my Sims. -Javin
Neither the elixir of life, nor the in-game aging cheat, are responsible for the memory bug: The memory bug is somewhat more insidious, and appears to be inflicted via having too many "dark" memories, causing a timeout as the chat cycle iterates through the loop: A built in failsafe system designed to prevent malfunctioning and runaway BHAVs then cuts off the interaction and boots everyone into a standing position. It is therefore entirely possible for a family of sims you have never, ever played, to start jumping, as sims can accrue memories, often lots of them, without ever having been played.
