    Questions about registering TheSims2

First of all be gentle i'm a new user! Ha! I say this because I red through a load of threads before I registered here.
Can anyone help,I've tried to register TheSims2 using EA's software but it doesn't connect to the site. I've turned off the firewall & virus checker but still can't connect!
Does anybody know if this is a regular problem for TheSims2 registration and if it's just a matter of keep on trying or is there a problem with EA's registering site/server? In which case how am I going to download Sims2 Stuff?

    Thanks for the help people.

Try going directly to the customer support website (rather than trying to connect through the game) and ask them how to get it to work. It should let you register using the EAReg thing. However, you'll still need to get a screenname. For TS2, EA has switched to the AOL system, so that if you already have an AOL screenname, you can use that. Keep in mind though, that once you've chosen a name you can't change it, so choose carefully.

You can get to customer tech support through here:

EA's "registration software" is undoubtedly an evil piece of insidious spyware. Who knows what goes on within the bowels of its dark machinery, and what data it is harvesting in secret from your computer to transmit home to its dark masters along with your individually identifiable tracking number, which, if you bought from a store, can CERTAINLY be traced to that store, and if you mail-ordered it from EA, God help you.

You will note how it is no longer possible to "register" via the web as was in TS1: Clearly, EA has caught wise to the fact that proxies can render any attempt to track you useless. Now you are forced to use an insidious piece of proprietary spyware that phones home godknowswhat to its dark masters along with your tracking number.

I also had a problem registering TS2 at the moment that I was installing it. My guess is their server was down, shouldn't happen for such a company should it? Anyway, the "try again later" trick seemed to work fine.
