    Birthday party?

I have my first toddler and the mom wants to throw a birthday party for him. I tried to throw one, but only one person came, it was a "snoozer", my toddler went to bed an hour in, and I had no cake. Plus, it was the day before my kid's birthday. The pop up box said I needed to start planning but I guess there's not really anything to plan, you have to do it all right before the party? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

Well technically, there are things to do for planning before the party, but once you invite the guests, there is no planning period. They just come.

Make sure you have music, food, a cake, dance floor would be nice, paintings (or anything to add to the atmosphere), and great lighting. Make sure the host or hostess is completely green charged before the party. A good host usually leads to a good party.

BTW -- are you a HP fan? I love HP!

I don't really like HP, no. Ever since they merged with Crapaq, quality has been way down, and brand name computer equipment has always sucked to begin with.

heh, yeah. I love Harry Potter. Before the books came out I don't know how I lived. I can't seem to remember much before then;).

How do you get a birthday cake?

Go into the buy mode and its under items, not the rooms one, click on misc. & then the sign with balloons, all party items are there. You can even have the buffet table with a birthday party cloth.

If it were me I would put the cheat on aging off until the birthday fear goes away because if you have a party with the fear on you will loose apiration points & instead of your color going up on your aspirations they will go down & I don't believe that you could have a good party. Just wait until that fear is gone then have the birthday party, oh & I don't know if you know it but you have to take the Sim to the cake & you don't always have to wait until the party is almost over just make sure the birthday Sim interacts with everyone & have all Sims enjoying themselves. I usually save right before calling the guests for the party so I can start over if the party is a disasster. Which I have had many times, party's are hard work but worth it.

    Birthday

I threw a wedding party for one of my couple's before. It was rated "Roof Raiser". That's good! Here are some tips:
1.) under the items, other, then party, buy a cake, and also a buffet table.
2.) Don't let your guests leave until AFTER the party timer has run out. Once, my party was going great until I dismissed everyone early, like 1 min before it ended. It went from a good rating to a bad one.
3.) yes, music, food, and tv are all good things. one time my party was good just because everyone sat and watched tv and talked!
4.) don't completely ignore your guests.
    Hope that helps!:)

The Golden Rule of the good party is socialising. The more points the guests add to their relationships with each other, the higher your party score will be. So during the party, it is a good idea to strive to engage the guests in social activities, like dancing or myshuno, or if you're poor or want a quiet party, sit them all down in the living room to talk. Also, it is important to pander to their needs - give them food, fun and a place to s hit and they'll be raising the roof in no time. But socialising is the main thing. I hope this helps.

Here's how I do a good birthday party.

    1. I have one person (preferably the one with higher charisma and more friends) call and invite everyone he/she knows over. Then I chose the "throw party" option.

    2. While Sim #1 is on the phone, I have the another Sim cook or grill something.

    3. I got into buy mode and purchase a cake, and some balloons.

    4. I have another sim turn on the stereo and make drinks.

By this time the guests have arrived. They eat, drink, and dance. Around 6 o'clock I take the birthday boy/girl to the cake and have them blow out the candles.
The "Start planning a birthday party" warning comes two days before the child is ready to grow up. If you throw the party then, it won't happen. But, if you wait until after 6 the evening before they grow up, then they will.
