    Problems when loading Body Shop.

Hello. When I try to open the Sims 2 Body Shop a message comes that says:

    Direct3D returned an error: D3DEER_INVALIDCALL!
    The application will now close.

I have HP Pavillion a744x with 512 MB and anintegrated graphics card. Direct3D 9.0c is loaded. Please, may someone know how to solve the problem. Thanks in advance.

How do I find out? I'm not sure if I do. The computer I have I just barely bought and the system specs are... 2.93 GHz processor speed (gateway 420 GR, Intel Pentium 4), 504 MB of Ram. By the way... Sims 2 works on my computer, just the Body shop 2 doesnt (and I close Sims 2 BEFORE I try to open body shop). It's crazy, and driving me insane... So any help will be much appriciated!

Hey how do i retrieve that whole huge list of specs from my computer?

If you downloaded those, it wouldn't work for you merely because those are for people who have 915GV Motherboards....

Kalli - you'd need to know your computer, like if it was built by Dell. Most manufacturers has a list of specs posted up on the web.

Snap! I have the same problem! I have a brand new computer with more or less the same specifications that that everybody else has quoted! I have emailed intel on numerous occasions and here's the transcript over a couple of days:

NB: intel responses are in italic, mine are in normal text.

Body shop IS part of the Sims 2 game so it should feature on the compatbility list for this graphics controller. If you tested this game correctly you
should know this. Did you read my additional info? I have done most of the
solutions you have suggested already! I have done the following:
Checked that I have meet the system requirements for the game.
Change my desktop to high colour (16 bit).
Downloaded the lastest patch from the official website for the game. +
lastest driver for my video card (intel915g) from intel!
Closed down all unnecessary background tasks + disabled my anti-virus
    programs etc.
I have also try the program compatibility option which allows you to open
the game with an old verison of windows that you know it work on before
    i.e. Windows 2000 (it doesn't work).

My old graphics controller for my old computer was intel (r) 82810e. it's
driver version was 4.13.01.3196. Bodyshop worked fine on this computer if
this is any help to you.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Intel(R) Technical Support.

As explained before, we have not tested this expansion; therefore, we do not
have any information on issues or possible workarounds. I suggest contacting
the developer of the software for further information.

Please do not hesitate to contact us again if you need further assistance.

Bodyshop is not an separate expansion pack like 'Sims2 University' It is already a feature of the game (Sims 2). If you tested the game then you should of come across the Bodyshop component. Don't you guys test all aspects of a game to see whether it's compatibile with your products? I am not the only one having problems with my videocard, others with who have the '82915G/82910GL EXPRESS CHIPSET' are experiencing the same problems I'm having. Click here to see for yourself.

    http://forums.worldsims.org/showthread.php?p=73560#post73560

They have also done the same solutions I have tired and the ones you guys have suggested to no avail?
I can't understand how one of the lastest family chipsets have faults with one of the biggest selling PC games titles of late when much older family chipsets from Intel work fine with the game on much older PCs?!

This feature does not come with the standard installation of the game. Since it is a feature that needs to be added to the game, it should not need any
additional requirements. I suggest contacting the developer of the game for
    further assistance.'

They are claiming Bodyshop is this feature that doesn't come with the game! Which is nonsense! I have given up on them as they appear clueless! Is there any one out there that can help us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:(

It sounds like they think you're trying to install the downloadable Body Shop. Edit: also, are you aware you were quoting the Intel people, not EA/Maxis, who does the support for the game. Intel wouldn't have an idea about the game, since they only made the video card chip (and they don't play all the games to see if their chip will work with it.)

Also, even Maxis doesn't test *every* videocard out there. There are just too many. For example, they didn't test any of the mobility cards, which means that if there is a problem with someone's laptop, they are not able to help much.

While Intel 82915 was tested and is supported, that doesn't mean any of the newer versions of it are workable. They would have to go back and test TS2 on the newer versions (which must have a glitch since they do seem to have a problem.) But in doing so, they'd have to drop out some of the older cards which would cause other problems.

It's a pity that TS2 came out just as there was a major change in the technology (with the PCI Express). It seems to have an even more major effect on the industry than the introduction of AGP technology did. But on the other hand, I wouldn't have wanted to wait another year or two for it to come out.

When I visited the Intel website there is a compatibility list for the videocards and the games it can support. They claimed my videocard is compatible with the Sims 2 game and that there are no, known problems. Surely Intel can't claim something is compatible when they haven't fully tested the game with their products. As they would of found out there is something wrong when trying to open up bodyshop. I am not the only one with this particular problem so it isn't an isolated issue. EA games tells me download the latest driver from your card manufacturer + their patch. Which I did, this fixed the crashes/freezes in the game but not bodyshop. Intel maintain that I should contact the game Manufactuer (EA Games). Both are trying to past the buck to each other with no one taking ownership of the situation.

I meet the standard requirements for the game by far in all catagories so why won't bodyshop open? whats EA Games excuse?!
Intel claim my videocard works fine with the game and is compatible, but it isn't?! Whats their excuse!

I suspect that it would be a good idea to email EA support directly, outlining all the steps you've already taken and mentioning that you have the *game* going fine.

Also, when Intel tests the game, they probably don't test BodyShop or Homecrafter. So, that may be part of the problem.

One of the problems with the tech support places is that their first line of help is to find key words and send you the info for those key words. So, in the first line of questioning, it's probably a good idea to use as few words as possible. Something like "BodyShop no longer working." but after a response then give the full description of your problem.

As to the testing, it may be more than the video card which is a problem. They test their video cards under very specific conditions, which you may not have with your computer. There's a whole host of things which can interfere that they may not have on their test computers but that you have on yours. (Unfortunately, that includes the software for other parts of your computer such as CD or DVD drives, printers, scanners, modems, etc.)

I know it can be frustrating working with "support" but I do believe that if you can patiently work through it with EA tech support, that you'll be able to get it going ok. But it takes patience to work through difficult problems such as you are having. If you do get it to work, please share it here, since it seems you aren't the only one with the problem.

At long last I have finally got bodyshop to open! :) About a month ago I heard about EA games updated bodyshop on their latest expansion pack (Nightlife). This was to solve problems with some intel users and other video cards etc. I nearly gave up on the Sims not loading Bodyshop but I stayed true and have been rewarded.:D (About time too!:( rolleyes:

Bear in mind that I also have the University expansion pack plus the latest patch for Nightlife from the official website. I hope this is useful info for at least one person. Or maybe it's too little and WAY too late.
