What I did With My Christmas Vacation

I have figured something out about myself this weekend: I'm totally screwed up! LOL

I have this family, The Fosters. I created them with Body Shop before TS2 was even released, and they were one of my 1st families. I didn't play them much because they were too big and with the personalities and backstories I'd created with each charector, well, it was too complicated.

Here's the story: Nice Grandma Sue (family sim) has one grown son, Tommy. She decides to take in a bunch of Foster kids (hence the name). So she takes in 6 really screwed up kids, the worst one being Devlin the punk/goth kid. He walks around all the time slapping people and dumping out trash cans. So Tommy knocks up one of the town sleezes and moves in with her to help take care of the baby. The baby's name is Leslie. Leslie's mother burns to death, and so he is alone with her tramp roommate Becca and her baby, another little girl named Kyra. Of course, the roommate starts making the moves and poor Tommy falls in love with her too. I don't want to see him get his heart broken again and I think he's better suited to marry one of my Legacy Sims, Sarah. So I move him and little Leslie into a house nearby the Legacy house. The house is big enough that I can play a few more charecters so I invite Grandma, Devlin, and another Foster child, the bookish and mousey Tina to move in. I keep playing this family, inviting Sarah Legacy over, and starting a romance between her and Tommy. His wants still are all about trampy Becca. He wants to call her, wants to flirt with her, wants to play with her. So, I let him propose, thinking that she will turn him down. Nope, she takes him up on the offer. So I switch over to her house and have her throw a wedding party. She invites all her boyfriends and goes around kissing on all of them, but Tommy never sees this! I even had her take one upstairs and woo hoo, but still no reaction from Tommy. He's too busy discussing football or something! So I don't let them get married, and then switch back over to his house, try it again, but this time they actually do get married (I was still hoping she'd leave him at the altar!) She moves in with little Kyra. I can't stand it anymore, so I drown Becca in the pool. Now he's free to date Sarah, right? Well, about the same time, he dies of some disease! Grandma dies, too. So we have 3 teens in the house: Devlin, Tina, Leslie, and then little Kyra. Devlin and Tina grow up, and I try to make Devlin look normal. I get rid of the mohawk and the goth makeup, and underneath it is this total hottie!! I mean, supermodel good looks!! So now I'm teaching him charisma and trying to get him to be more likable because I love him. (OMIGAWD!! Can't believe I'm lusting after a Sim! I need help!) So now Kyra is a teenager, and she and Devlin have this "special relationship." They keep talking and playing red hands and hugging and stuff. And I want Kyra to hurry up and turn into an adult so she and Devlin can have a relationship, because all I'm thinking about is how pretty the babies will be. Is that bad? So, you think that they will be able to? Their family trees do not intertwine.

I love your story! Kudos for not not saving after bad things happened, and going with the flow of events! I'm trying to be more brave about doing that. It makes for excellent stories. I'm surprised that Tommy didn't notice Becca WooHooing upstairs. My Sims always do :(.

The test you need to do with regards to whether or not Kyra and Devlin can get married is whether they 'family kiss' at the moment. If they do then I think they're counted as family even though they're not related and therefore won't be able to marry. I might well be wrong, though.

Thanks Zooty. Yeah, I try not to quit without saving unless whatever happened really disturbs me. (One time I had made a family based on my own family, and my son Allen was burnt up in a fire!!)

The only interactions that Kyra and Devlin can do is: Hug, talk, play, shoo, and iritate. No "Family Kiss." Though Devlin's foster half-sister Leslie does have the "Family kiss" option. So, good!!! There's hope!!

More than hope! It was only a flimsyish theory that if they could family kiss then they could never have be in a romantic relationship. They should definately be able to fall in love when they're adults now! It's so cute when Sims develop 'special relationships' as you call them, and autonomously go to interact with each other all the time.

This one isn't really a Legacy family. I've used many cheats with this family. ;)
