    Change sim genetics

I recently discovered how to create custom content for my sims, such as facial hair, genetics, ect. Is there any way to get this custom content on a pre-existing sim? I don't want to start over with my sims, but I really do want my sims to have this content.

For hair, facial hair, make-up etc you can have your sim go to a mirror and click on "change apperance". You should be able to use your custom stuff there as long as it is installed in your game.:D

As far as I know genetics (skin color, eye color) cannot be changed ...

    Yes.
The custom content that you have created could only be applied to the Sim you have now by changing their hair.
As Mirelly said, skin colour, eye colour etc. are all fixed once you finished creating your Sim, and cannot be changed once you have started playing. So, all the custom skins and eyes you've made could only be used on a new Sim that you've made.

Thanks Nepthys. You're right and my earlier answer didn't make that clear. I was very pleased when I found out that mirrors could be used to change appearance because everyone gets bored with the same old hairstyles, facial hair, eyeglasses, make up and we all like to ring the changes! Also it often happens that a second teen to mature on the lot looks like a clone of the first one ... making it difficult to tell them apart. Quick trip to mirror and eldest one gets to go all goth! :classic:

I use the mirror on almost every Sim once they reach child. I dislike the hairstyles where the hair is in the eyes and for some reason, each time a toddler female matures, they put her in one of those styles, as well clothes that are not appropriate to that child's personality. When you use the mirror, the thumbnail picture also changes to that look, which I find nice (especially when they have a set of twins and they end up with the same hair/clothes.) I also usually change the boy's hair (as I don't care for the afro style on caucasian boys. It makes me feel like their parents are tormenting them with perms) and clothes. Very handy, those mirrors!

Wait i'm a bit confused are we able to change our clothing? I may have misread if somebody has already mentioned that we were. (Nevermind I reread some of the things above)

And another question is where do you buy mirrors? I am not seeing them anywhere in buy mode.:confusion:

Clothing can be changed. You first have to go to a community lot where there is a clothing store. Buy the clothes you want and go home. Then if haven't got an armoire or dresser or wardrobe you'll need to buy one. Click on the armoire and you will have the option to "choose outfit" ... good luck!

Mirrors are to be found under the decorative items in the buy mode.

You have to build one. There are some clothing racks in the "buy" options when you're at a community lot.

Be sure to specify "Community" when it asks you for a lot type and you will see the community options.

Oh, and don't forget a cash register. They can't buy clothes without one.

You're welcome. I suppose I should also mention, for those who haven't played community lots yet, that you need to build your community lot, save it, and go back to the neighborhood and enter a residential lot in order to play it.

Have a sim call on the phone for a taxi or drive their car to the lot (if you have NL). They can't change anything about the lot while they're there, only interact with things, like the clothing rack, other sims, etc., etc. ...

And, if you include clothing changing booths (optional) they can have woohoo in them. ;)

Don't the original three neighborhoods come with community lots already installed? At least Pleasantview did. All I added was a restaurant and bars, but the clothing store was already there. Don't know about Strangetown and Veronaville since I haven't played them yet.

I don't know. I never played them much. I was talking about if you have your own custom neighborhood.

    But they probably do.
