No, I don't believe you can choose the height. I believe one of the maxoids said this was so their lips properly match up when they kiss.
There's a cheat code to adjust the height. It's StretchSkeleton (number). The number is what changes the height. 2.0 will double the size, .50 will make it shorter. You can play around with the numbers, I think.
Ant or Elephant? Hmmmm... But if you turned one of your sims into a midget or a GIANT would you have another cheat, to put your sim to normal height?

Problem with stretchskeleton Warning, a size-adjusted Sim does not stretch or shrink proportionally. Stretched Sims are no widers than before, just taller. They are stretched thin and skinny like taffy. Shrunken Sims are just as wide and once they are really short wierd things happen--knees don't bend right, arms that bend outwards, stuff like that. Laslty, a stretched or shrunk Sim won't animate right when interacting with out Sims.Bizarre clipping issues are the norm. Aside from all that, it's pretty cool.

I haven't tried this myself yet, but I got the impression that it was primarily intended to allow gamers to compensate for the fact that male and female sims are always the same height. The trouble I I don't know if the cheat, once set, applies to all characters on the the lot, or just to selected character ... and if the latter does the degree of stretch get saved fromsession to session? If so it would possible to make some male sims tall and hunky by setting StretchSkeleton 1.04 and females to 0.96. This would set set a 6 inch height difference. Assuming 5'10" as an average height. 1.04*5"10"=6'1" 0.96*5'10"=5'7" Unfortunately much fo the animation depends on them being a certain size ... see pics. Eating is OK ... but a romantic kiss looks more like a vampire going for the jugular ... :(
