There are many causes for crashing. Most of them have to do with overloading what your computer is doing (which all of the things you mention can easily do.) It's really important to remember that your computer may meet the minimum requirements, but that does not in *any* way mean that you can have it using all the features. Only the godgamingcomputers can really have all the features turned on and still work. If you don't save often enough (like once a SimDay, or right before a special event is planned is helpful), the game can crash. If you have your graphics settings turned up (like having the "special event" scenes enabled), the game can crash. If you don't have all the background activity turned off, it can crash. If you have spyware or viruses, your game can crash. If you have tons of custom content, it is more likely to crash (and that can happen even with a godgamingmachine. Ask me about 3gb in the download file and what happens when my husband's computer asks my computer to dial the modem.) The best thing to do is to follow the directions in your manual which explain how to turn off the background programs. Try that for starters, as well as saving frequently (especially before a special event is planned.) If that is not enough, go to the options and start dialing things down, starting with the special event "camera" (which seems to be one of the biggest hogs.) If that isn't enough, then you should probably list your specs so that we can better troubleshoot things. You check your specs by going to Start, clicking on Run, and typing in dxdiag in the box. Once you've activated it you will see several tabs. The General or System Information tab has some of the information (mixed in with a lot of things you don't necessarily need operating system processor (make/model and "speed" in ghz or mhz) memory (system RAM, "short term memory") direct X version The Display or Display Devices tab has: card name chip type (if different from the card name) display memory or "approx. total memory" (also known as video RAM or video memory) To get your harddrive (long term) memory, go to My Computer, right click on your harddrive, go to properties and look at the total drive memory/space and the free drive memory/space.
