How do I make my kid study? Okay, this is yet another dumb question . . . but I can't find the interaction that tells the child when he/she gets home!!!! Oh yeah, also, this is off-topic, but is there anyway to detect how a non-family-member sim feels about your sim?
A sim child or teen learns to "study" when a teen (assuming said studier is a child), adult, or elder helps them with their homework. There are no actual, direct "Study", "Learn to Study", or "Teach Studying" interactions. And as for your second question...if the non-household Sim in question was created by you, then just go to their house and check up on relationships. If not...there's no way you can tell. 'Cept if they get crush or love hearts, that's the onyl time you can tell what they're feeling towards your Sim. Otherwise...no.
Go to http://simlogical.com/sl/Sims2Pages/Sims2School.htm and download the school table and workbook. In the game, click on the table and select "set work for <name of Sim> then instruct them to do the work. When they have finished the work their grade goes up. They can still stop without fully finishing the work (like with homework) and then you have to wait until they are in a better mood to instruct them to finish it.
the same way you learn cleaning etc except you click on their homework. If they are not in the mood to do it, make them play red hands or go kick some flamingos until they are happy again.... and then go do their homework.
If you can't find your kids' homework try looking around the mailbox. You may need to zoom in fairly close to see it cos it's often invisible if you look from a distance. Note also that "learn to study" is only achieved by a doing 100% of homework. So if 10% has already been done and then dad comes along to help with homework you'll have to wait until the next day and get dad to help again until another 10% has been done. If you get another sim to do the helping ... erm ... I'm not sure what happens
