Video card problems I tried installing Sims 2 and got the same message everyone else got about the DirectX9, so I found out that I do not have enough memory. I have 8.0 and I see you need 32.0. Also, I found that I needed a chipset. I have S3ProSavage KM133 and I either need ATI Radeon 7200 or NVIDIA GeForce2, so I bought the only chipset they had at the computer store (which is the only computer store in my town) and all they had was an NVIDIA GeForce 5500. I installed it and my computer just kept shutting down and restarting. I took it out and returned it and they told me that I dont have enough power and I need 300W of power??? There has to be some other way I can get this to work without spending hundreds of dollars on my computer or buying a new computer. can you please help me??? Oh dear JenSim. You do seem to be up a creek here! Your video display is hopelessly inadequate to cope with The Sims 2 as it is. It may well be that a new power supply (around 30-40 bucks) will do the job but without a full dxdiag (click here for a "how to") of your system specification no one can actually tell you if it will work when you have spent the money.

I found a video card at Newegg.com. Jaton NVIDIA GeForce 2, MX400 video card, 32 MB DDR, 4XAGP, model 3Dforce2 MX-32DDR Support 3D API: DirextX7, OpenGL 1.2. Will this work? Also I need 300W power, can you suggest a good one to buy?
The Geforce 2 is still very low on the totem pole of graphics abilities. About the minimum that I'd recommend is either the FX5200 or Radeon 9200. If you get lower than that, often times the game runs so slowly that it's difficult to play. As for power supplies, I'm not familiar with all of them, but I got my Antec True Power because it had good reviews and is a reputable brand.
