How Do I How can i get a lead singer in my band on university?

I've not yet seen a microphone in the game or in the Prima Guide.

 

I think what is confusing is that the icon for freestyle is a microphone, but they don't actually have one in their hand (at least that I've been able to see) when they do their singing.

However, when you have a band playing, you can click on freestyle and join them at it.

I had a lot of fun playing with that last night. I ended up having a guest from the University on piano, one from the neighborhood on bass and the active Sim freestyling with them. They ended up playing until it was time for my Sim to go to work the next morning. I couldn't get the guest Sims to quit until I used the multipaining to drain their comfort. They were ignoring hunger, bathroom and fatigue desperation to continue playing! And this from Sims who usually break off right at 2am to go home, even if they are otherwise happy as clams with what they're doing.
