A more nasty bug in University Unfortunately after playing university for a couple of days and while some of my sims became elders,the jump chat bug appeared again but in a different form. I noticed this now with the 1st 2 sims which became elders. On the 2nd 1 i didnt even use the elixier of life,only on the 1st 1 i used a bottle. What happens is the following: My elderly sim,after a while seems to get unable to propose someone to move in. Once i click on it the icon disappears short after. Im unable to use the phone at all,not for delivery ,talk,taxi or even to invite someone over. Icon disappears after 1 sec. Also happens with cooking. Sims tries to cook and is jumping around. Also happened while watching TV. Sim suddenly jumped around. Happened also while trying to pay the bills. Sims jumped around but he Did pay the bill. Doesnt happen if they try to talk. Also this bug periodically stops for a short while until it appears again. Both my elderly sims are affected after playing them for a while as elderly people. They didnt had any problems while in adult stage. This bug behaves similiar like the old jump chat bug but more widespread since im also unable to call for any food now. Thx god this bug periodically stops for a short while so im able to get some food. Im afraid that soon,all my sims will get affected. Also,moving them to a new and total different lot didnt help. Im curious if any other has also experienced this?
Unfortunately the problem has become worse. Very strange things do happen in the neighborhood now. I didnt play at any college yet exept only once for 10 mins. wanted to see how it is. What i wanted is to expand my family and move the teenagers to college later. But this dream may never come true because: What i mentioned above behaves like the jump chat bug but it doesnt exactly affect chat. In fact i can chat with other sims but this jump bug affects the following: After i posted this thread i did some more testing. I noticed that this bug appears from 8 am to 10 pm. That means im able to call and invite sims over from 7 to 8 am and from 10 pm to 8 am the othe day. Of course you cant invite sime when its past midnight because you wake them up so my chance is from 10 pm to 12 pm. This jump bug affects everything. My sim is jumping when he tries to get food from the refriegerator,when hes using the toilet,watching tv,eating with others and beeing in the hot tube. This problem disappears when the time gets 10 pm. Very strange indeed. Also,so far 3 of my elderly sims are affected in different lots. Also,hes also jumping while cooking. The result is sometimes strange. While cooking,he jumps around and then goes to the table and is waiting for food?? Also as i said before during this bug im unable to use the phone and invite someone over or even ask him to move in. Also playing on a different lot i was unable to move a elderly sim out evne the lot had around 4 million dollars. when i tried to move hi out and the list appeared and was asking me who else i wanted to move out,nothing happened after. the icon disappeared. Today was my worse day since my family had a new baby. The woman jumped 5 times around and delayed the birth until it finally worked the 6th time. If that wasnt even enough,no sim could feed the baby. Once approaching the refrigerator the sim jumped around and the baby was on the floor. And this happened with every sim,parents and elderlies. Im able now to feed the baby actualy only during daytime. In the night its impossible,sims are unable to feed it. And thats not all. The small window with the needs and fears started suddenly to spin and it stopped after around 10 mins. This happened to all sims. Endless spinning. Then ti stopped but i noticed that every 1 to 3 min their needs were changing. After a while it started spinning again for many mins which made me quite nervous. There was a teenager in the lost and for the 1st time i decided to send him to college. He left succesfully only to return at 10 pm,ringing the bell and waiting outside. I wasnt able to greet him,in fact i couldnt interact with him. He stayed outside for 2 days,collapsed in the meantime,had pee and so on. I got worried that he would die so i left the lot and came back and he was gone. Sorry for the long post but the last 2 days the problems have become much worse which makes it almost impossible to play on lots. also ,delivery men or women get stuck outside,not leaving at all. Periodically even they enter the house and are watching tv. Then suddenly they vanish and when they do so does the delivery truck which appears though only 5 sec after again with a new delivery man standing outside for ages. I dont know what to say,im confused and what troubles me now is how im gonna raise up babies with all these troubles. The base game is updated to version 2 and yes i had the jump bug chat fix installed before i applied the patch.i have it removed now but i tried it out 2 days ago with no results. Sims 2 was working fine after the update and so were the 1st days with the expansion pack exept now. Now its getting worse and worse. Still as i said i didnt play much ant unis yet because i 1st want to raise teenagers and then send them to uni. Unfortunately with all these bugs around i doubt that im gonna be able to do that. Dear Speed, Please slow down. I think you just have a corrupted file somewhere ... You need to reinstall the game. To be sure to keep your existing families ... Drag your C:\Documents and Settings\User_Name\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 folder to your desktop and uninstall the game. Then defrag your computer:- To open Disk Defragmenter, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Disk Defragmenter. Reinstall the game starting (obviously) with The Sims 2 and then University. Make sure that it loads and then plays properly before returning the saved games folder (that you plopped onto the desktop) to the game EA Games directory in My Documents/
Thx for the Advice. Actually i was already thinking about defragmenting my hard drive. After my last post i tried and played some families in Pleasantview and actually so far,it worked fine there. All these problems i mentioned before occured in the custom neighborhood i have created. Also im running Univercity with a no cd mini image now. Before i was using the cd. Hmmm dont know if this also has something to do with it. Anyway thx for replying and im gonna try to defrag my hard drive soon after some more tests. Cheers!
Well the bad news is that any kind of "no cd" hack/utility will cause major problems for the game. Dump it and always use the CD.
Ok,something i noticed about the bugs i mentioned earlier. Playing in Pleasantview for more than 12 hours i didnt notice any bugs there. In fact,everything was running smoothly. For the 1st time i also played the unversity neighborhood for a longer time. Same Results. I unmounted any no cd images and played the game from the cd. Results: With or without cd,the bugs are there but only in my custom enighborhood. Seems that hmmm,maybe somehow,after installing the expansion pack my custom neighborhood got corrupted in some way,especially elderly sims. Pleasantview seems to work just fine.
