Ethnic Diversity Sidetrack OK so my mind goes off at a tangent sometimes and I started wondering about the latest food option in S2U. The Chinese takeout. Now, I can't help wondering, what is the equivalent option (offered within the game) in places like Thailand, China, Japan, Taiwan? On a similar not I have often wondered how the game translates into other languages. British english doesn't have the exact equivalent of many Americanisms but we get by thanks to a shared cultural heritage (Hollywood and our language ) but even so I really do not have any idea at all what some of the terms mean exactly: "making out" for example. What the heck is it, exactly? It certainly doesn't seem to be something that a sim is shy to do in public though by all appearances it ought to be. Teen sims crumple with embarrassment when pop pinches mom's arse but they carry on blithely and ignore the most cringe-making displays of physical affection between their adult relations. Nope, I'm sorry but I'm all at sea on this one. And as for that *!%$*!#$% kid in the animal suit who spends his time running around doing the school cheer ... well he would have been first into the foundations of the new student dorm I would have built if it weren't for the fact that I am still trying to figure out a way to build one. I have my teen sweethearts, Anna and William sharing a house with Jimmy Phoenix and Ann Stacks (who lost weight even tho Jimmy fell in love with her while she was still a bit on the lardy side.) William's sister, Melissa, has just joined them and I had a good chuckle when the feds turned up to bust her for rolling out some counterfeit rhino - the cop fined her a $1000 and as they hadn't enough (as if a self-respecting student would do anything that wasn't, like urgent ... duh!) of the readies he sallied forth upstairs to confiscate a a grand's worth of property. Pity that bed was in use ... ... he should've fined them 2 Gees cos then he could've had the plasma telly that William (whose a wealth sim) bought with the household's last bunch of student grant money ... it meant they were all over the place tending bar and expressing coffee to pay for the life's little luxuries like food for a few days but the sports party was like mega awesome so that's OK then I suppose .... OK I'm gone already. :squareeyed:
So far, I have Lilia de Vaux, Raenon Wyndham, Jacques deCastries, and the two Davis brothers moved into a bin dorm I named Wyndham Hall (in honor of my husband's red-headed step-head of course, and it's grand legacy in my big neighborhood). The campus is La Fiesta Tech since it fits so well with the desert theme of my neighborhood La Jolla Vista. I've managed to cram all four band pieces into the bottom floor atrium of the dorm, and between Raenon, Jacques, and Lilia, I've got a good three piece band going. Now I just have to get either Almeric or Aldric worked up to snuff to form a really stylin' four piece band. Then, they can move out and play gigs for money. Lilia and Almeric seem to be hitting it off pretty well (good because he's actually not too ugly for a Maxis Townie) while Raenon and Jacques are already engaged at half-way through their frosh year. The other neighborhood group features Graciela and Isleen along with Will, Klara, and Blossom (game sims) in a slightly larger dorm. I'm getting much better at juggling their social life now that they can boss the townies around and get them to do classwork.
Making out isn't something we usually do in public over here either, Mirelly. It's something most young lovers do on the couch if their parents aren't home. Or in the back of a trans-am if the parents are home. "Making out" consists of alot of kissing, a little petting, and some heavy breathing. In a normal American college, the guy in the Llama suit would not show up outside of a sporting event with the suit on for fear of ending up locked in a locker, his underwear ran up the flagpole. Or, if the bad kids get ahold of him, beaten within an inch of his life or walled up in the foundation of some dorm. He annoys the h___ out of me, too! Any other American expressions? I'd love to share!
LoL. I like your deffinirion of "make-out" kristolrose. In sims it also seems to include a lor of butt rubbing too. LOL
Yeah, I don't know why there have more than one mascot running around on campus. If one of those guys belongs to the rival school, there's no way he could appear without getting seriously molested by the student body. Now, the resident mascot is generally respected at my Alma Mater, but then again, he also only shows up at sporting events and the like as has already been mentioned.
The 2 mascots (the cow and llama) are ALWAYS at my dorms together, playing on my Sims band instruments. And when they finish playing, they start to interact with eachother and then they start to fight (with the big clouds around them). It's hilarious! And my Sim just walked straight past them as if its completely normal! Imagine that, walking downstairs and seeing a man in a llama suit and another in a cow suit fighting with eachother, and then thinking its completely normal. So funny!
I feel cheated! Why won't the llama and cow waste time fighting in my dorms? At least then they wouldn't be sucking up instrument time, and keepuing my sim band from practicing together!
I've only had Sims U for a short while, but I had the mascots turn up to brawl in my dorms, but as I was playing the Alien , I forget - Stella?, I decided to try and make friends with the Cow to be a traitor, I wonder if you can marry them?
