OK Niners. Calm down and don't panic. Please take a moment to answer a few questions:
    1. Did you previously play The Sims 2 without trouble before adding the University expansion pack? (If YES go to Q2-4) (If NO please post again with more information about your computer)
    2. Have you downloaded anything for the game? (Includes houses, clothing, hair, make up, game hacks etc.?)
    3. Have you checked to see if you have a folder called Downloads in My_Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2?
    4. If you do have My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads it should be moved to your desktop before trying again to start the game. To move a folder drag it to the desktop and let it go ... Windows will take a few moments (might be longer) to make the change. (You can put the folder back in the same way at any time). The game does not need a downloads folder to start or work!
Come back here if you're still in trouble, but please post as much information as possible (eg run dxdiag on your PC (Click Start then Run and type dxdiag) We need to know:

    • System Tab
      • Processor type and speed
      • Memory (RAM)
      • Page File details
      • Directx Version
    • Display Tab
      • Left panel (Device)
        • Name/Chip type
        • Approx total memory
      • Right panel (Drivers)
        • Main driver
        • Version
    Hope this helps. :)

LOL Oops. Q 2-4 meant questions 2 thru 4 but you answered them anyway. Cool.

I think that you might have to reinstall the game from scratch. (I mean start over with The Sims 2) ... but first try these in this order:-
    1. Go to http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp and download the latest version of the graphics drivers for your display adapter (select Graphics Driver and then choose GeForce and TNT then you need to select your operating system (I forgot to ask you for that bit ... again one oops too many, sorry ;) )
    2. Given your system specifications I feel that your page file size may be too small. Go to this (http://forums.worldsims.org/showthread.php?t=2929) page for instructions on fixing that.
If that doesn't fix your problem you will first need to uninstall and then reinstall the whole game starting with The Sims 2. (You can make certain to save all your families of sims before doing this by making a copy of:-
C:\Documents and Settings\Your_Name\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 ... if you are uninstalling just drag that file to the desktop and it will be safe. Let us know if need help putting it back into the game after you successfully reinstall .... ;)
