    Sims2 University Installation Problem

I was in the process of installing the Sims 2 University. The game had already asked me to put Disk 1 in, Disk 2, Disk 4 from the Sims 2, and then it stated that the Update had been successful. However, the game then asked me to put Disk 1 back in and when I did, it just said "Please Wait..." and then, that's it. It just stays there and doesn't read Disk 1 or do anything else. It just locks up there. When I go to Task Manager, it's not even listed as an application that is running. What is going on and how can I fix this? (PS- I already had to exchange the game this morning due to the Sims2EP1 issue, so I really hope that I don't have to exchange the game yet again.) Does anybody know what's going on and how I can fix this?

    Patches....

Do you have a patched version of The Sims 2 installed?
The official patch for the game is known to cause A LOT of different problems with the University installation process.
You may try to uninstall and re-install The Sims 2 without patching it, and then install the University Expansion.

It's patch 1 that seems to cause the problems. Patch 2 gets installed in your game before you install the EP, even if you haven't downloaded it. It's on the University disc itself and it installs just before it installs the actual game.

However, a clean install helps many other issues as well. If something has corrupted the Sims2.exe (such as patches, a bad save, etc.), then the EP can't find the right sims2.exe and can't install.
