    Installation "completes" at 22%....

I need some serious help here......
The first time I installed The Sims 2 everything ran smoothly, but after uninstalling it I ran into a strange problem. While trying to re-install the game the installation process reaches 22% and I get the message "The Sims 2 was successfully installed", wich it of course wasn't....
The Install Shield obviously installs some files or registry entries wich the uninstall process dosn't remove, and I can't find them!!
The mini-game wich is supposed to run during the installation doesn't appear either.....

    My system specifications are:
    OS: Microsoft Windows Me (Norwegian)
    CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (2.2GHz)
    GPU: XFX nVidia GeForce FX5200 AGP8X (128MB)
    RAM: 512MB DDR 400MHz
    MB: Abit NF8
    MB Chipset: nVidia nForce3 250Gb
    Drives: Sony CD-RW CRX230ED, Samsung SpinPoint ATA-100 80GB Harddrive
(I don't really think my system specs are relevant, because I had the EXACT same problem on a completely different system.)

Did you leave anything in the Sims2 folder such as downloads with a different name? (Some people do that so that they won't lose their folder. But it needs to be completely out of the Sims2 area such as on the desktop.)

Do you still have a TS2 folder of any kind?

Another thought: have you anything since your first install that is different, such as putting in a new CD or DVD R/RW which has software which the disc sees as being "piracy". I've heard that Nero software, for instance, can do that.

    Problem solved!

I have had no recent changes to my system, and EVERY SINGLE FILE from my Sims 2 folder (and the folder itself, actually....) was deleted. As was the "EA Games" folder in "My Documents".

The only solution I found was to install the game in a different language.....
Weird huh? But still, it worked.

That is weird. Hopefully it doesn't mean that you can't see your mouse-overs in the language you prefer.

    No problem....

The language is no problem, because I installed the University expansion pack in Norwegian later on. Of course the game then returns to my preferred language.

I'm glad that worked at least!
