Ok heres the story..i recently purchased a thailand copy of the sims 2 university expansion pack on ebay and i can not get the change the language to english! It's not working..i tried the instructions which the seller gave me and another persons instructions but i won't work..maybe im doing it wrong??!!! PLEASE HELP ME!! You can't change the language if there isn't a change language option in the set up preamble. If the ebay advertisement didn't indicate that the game was not in english then you have a valid complaint and should demand a refund. Contact ebay for advice

Don't panic, it can be done. Do as follows:

Step 1:
Go to start, then Run. Type in regedit. Press OK.

Step 2:
Locate where you installed Sims 2 University. For me it was programe files/EA games.
Under language change the setting to English UK (double click the icon to allow you to change the default)
Under Locale change the setting to en_uk
Under region make sure the code is MX08004261

Step 3:
Locate the file called 1.0 (it is in the Sims 2 university file that you were just in)
Under Language make sure the value data is 13 hexadecimal (double click the icon to allow you to change the default)
Under LanguageName change the setting to English UK

Close the file and then play the game.

I have done what nicole said to do get my russian version of the sims 2 to english but it simple does not work i have done it ova and ova again and it just doesnt work, well with english anyway...so i thought it could b sumtin to do wif my C:\program files\ea games\the sims 2\ts data\res\locale\english UK folder, when i open it is empty , but when i looked in spanish etc they have folders with config files etc..i think this is where my problem is coming from maybe? ...if anyone could help me i would greatly appreciate it. thankx

HI I JUST DID THIS. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.
THIS IS HOW TO CHANGE TO ENGLISH:

1. MAKE A EMPTY FOLDER ON YOUR DESKTOP. NAME IT WHAT EVER YOUR GAME IS (SIMS2 ___)

2. PUT YOUR THIA DISK IN YOUR COMPUTER.

3. GO TO MY COMPUTER.

4. FIND THE DRIVE YOU PUT YOUR GAME IN E: OR F:

5. EXPLORE THE DISK (DON'T RUN IT)

6. GO TO EDIT AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE. CLICK EDIT BUTTON AND SELECT THE (SELECT ALL OPTION. RIGHT CLICK AND COPY.)

7. GO TO YOUR EMPTY FILE ON YOUR DESKTOP THAT YOU MADE AND PASTE THE INFORMATION IN THAT FILE. WAIT UNTIL ALL FILES ARE COPIED TO THAT FOLDER.

8. IN YOUR NEW FOLDER SELECT THE FILE FOLDER THAT SAYS AUTORUN (OPEN IT)

9. CLICK ON THE FILE THAT SAYS ATUORUN (RIGHT CLICK AND OPEN WITH NOTEPAD)

IT MAY ALSO SAY CHOOSE PROGRAM TO OPEN WITH. JUST USE NOTEPAD.

10. IN NOTEPAD SCROLL DOWN TO THE AREA THAT LOOKS LIKE THIS :
English US=0
French=0
German=0
Italian=0
Spanish=0
Swedish=0
Finnish=0
Dutch=0
Danish=0
PortBrzl=0
Czech=0
Hebrew=0
Greek=0
Japanese=0
Korean=0
Russian=0
Chinese (Simplified)=0
Chinese (Traditional)=0
English UK=0
Polish=0
Thai=1
Norwegian=0
Portuguese=0
Hungarian=0
NumLanguages=1

11. CHANGE : Thai=1 TO Thai=0
12. CHANGE : English US=0 TO English US=1
( YOU CAN DO THIS WITH ANY LANGUAGE)

13. SAVE AND CLICK YES TO THE NEXT QUESTION ABOUT SAVING THE INFO.

14. NOW GO BACK TO YOUR FOLDER THAT YOU MADE AND CLICK ON EA AUTORUN SYMBOL. THIS WILL START THE INSTALL PROCESS IN ENGLISH AND YOUR GAME WILL BE IN ENGLISH.
