Nightlife EP Sounds real interesting, I wonder if you actually have control over the bowling ball or if it's a automated thing.... Complete review/interview at http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/sims-2-nightlife/601668p1.html
Bowling sounds like a whole lot of fun! I haven't been bowling in ages, so I'm sure even my Sims could kick my behind at it, but it'll be fun to watch them play! I hope it's skill related, so when you first start out you throw a lot of gutter balls, and get better the more you play. =) That would be realistic! I'm guessing that it'll be just like the pool game, it won't be a mini-game that you play, you'll just watch your Sims play. You think they'll be able to have 4 play at once, on teams?
Well, they do play pool as foursomes (two against two). I must admit that NL looks enticing ... the additional romance aspiration will be neat and the return of the DJ desk and dance floors are also welcome. I hope the restaurants come with more food options, too ...
I had this great little strip mall in my Downtown area for TS1. It had two shops, an arcade where they could buy ice cream, a disco, and a fancy restraunt. Maybe I can bring that back.
I'm not much interested in the bowling alley, but I can't wait for the restaurants. (There is a letter from Tim Letourneau which also has a couple of links to more information.) I already have two of my community lots set up for having a restaurant. Right now they just have an empty "kitchen" area and the tables (with a band so that it can be used now. I love the new instruments and musical abilities that they gave us with TS2U!) I'd been hoping they would make restaurants, the "fine dining" mentioned in one of the blurbs from Maxis in Tim's letter makes it sound like it's finally going to be happening. It's really fun to see them adding things that I've been seeing in the Suggest an Idea starting over at the official TS1 site and continuing on the TS2 site. I just hope that you don't have to have vampires if you don't want them. While I like vampires (if they are pretty ones like in Dark Shadows, Forever Knight and the Frank Langella version of Dracula, as opposed to the vampires of Kindred and Buffy), I don't necessarily want them in my game, any more than I want the aliens in my game. Hopefully we'll be able to choose whether we want them or not depending on the lot.
I anticipate this entire affair will be a gigantic and enormous mess. Just look at how they decided to install the current expansion pack. Apparently when the first expansion pack installs, unlike the TS1 approach of maintaining a single coherent install, TS2U simply installs itself to a different directory, completely IGNORES all of the TS2 original datafiles, and spits out its own objects.package. How, exactly, will this be reconciled in a second expansion pack? Will things be done back the TS1 way, where the install overwrites over the original game....and if so, which game will be overwritten, if you have the first expansion....or will it install itself into yet ANOTHER directory, with its own objects code? If so, how will these new changes be reconciled with the TS2U changes? Will people who purchase this second expansion pack end up receiving all of the first expansion pack's code for free as a result, since everything is wadded into a single package? This will be an enormous mess. And the cheering will return.
