Downloads not appearing in Sims 2 anymore... Can someone help me?? I am having trouble with my Sims 2, and was wondering if someone here can help. I posted my question on the Sims2.com help page but no one has been able to help me. My first problem is.my game somehow got reset without me doing anything to the game and/or my PC. One day all was well with it, and I play it again about two weeks later and all the progression I had made with my families is gone. (Maxis families) The entire game looks like I just installed it, although if I go into one of my previously played family, some of the snapshots I had taken before are still there?? The second and BIGGEST problem is, is that my downloads dont show up in my game anymore. I havent downloaded anything new to my game in about a month and a half, and before this happened, ALL my downloads appeared in my game. Now I only see 3 or 4 downloads, and thats it. The files are all in my Downloads folder.I havent touched them.but now they just dont appear in my game anymore when they did once!! The option to enable custom content is still checked like before. I just uninstalled and re-installed my game, put back my Downloads folder and its still the same. I only get 2 or 3 downloads. (all my downloads consist of either, hair, make-up, and clothes) I have many clothes items in my folder, now I'm lucky if 3 or 4 show up in my game! Is there ANY way you can help me out PLEASE??
It sounds as if the game reinstalled itself or someone did it for you. I've heard of this happening, but do not remember the cause or cure. Perhaps a BBS search of the official TS2 site, or going to the TS2 tech support page might tell you more about what happened. Make sure to check all 4 pages.) Some things that may be causing the problem are that your game has reset itself so that it no longer shows the downloads. Go into the Options panel and check Game Options to see if the Catalogs Display Custom Content has gotten switched to off. If other things on your computer got "reset," that may be one of the things that got reset. Also, all the downloads you mention must be in the root directory of the Downloads folder. In other words, you can't have them in subfolders to organize them or they won't work. Chances are if you are seeing any of them, the rest are in folders within the Download folder except for those 3 or 4.
I don't see how my game could of reinstalled itself! I'm the only one that uses this PC, so I know *I* didn't do it! I left for a week, everything had been fine, and when I got back, I noticed this! Actually, before coming here, I checked with the BBS site from TS2's website. I couldn't find anything that would help, and when I posted my problem, no one has been able to help me with it. The families getting reset now, aren't my biggest problem, I was still only playing the families that came with the game, so it's not THAT big of a deal! I actually uninstalled the game, then reinstalled it, in hopes that it would correct my download problem but it hasn't! As for other things getting "reset" on my computer...I haven't noticed anything. This problem happen a month ago now, so I'm sure I would have noticed something. As for the game option to Enable Custom Content, that hasn't changed it was, and still is checked. The weird this is, is that I just noticed that I am able to see quite a few wall and floor downloads (that came with houses I downloaded) but I still can't see the clothes, make-up and hair. I have quite a few of each of those but still only get about 3 or 4 in my game! As for my downloads folder, I don't have any subfolders. Everything that I download goes in my Downloads. That is EA Games/Sims 2/Downloads. It's been that way from the beginning. All the downloads worked a month ago, now the clothes and stuff don't show up! Does ANY of this make sense?? I really appreciate you trying to help! Hopefully someone here will be able to help me fix this problem!!
Unfortunately, other than your computer getting a virus (not TS2 related), I have no clue why this has happened to you. The things I've mentioned are the only ones I've heard doing this sort of thing. I know it's a longshot but you might try emailing or telephoning customer support for more information. They might be able to help (although I suspect they use mostly "canned" help, but they might at least be able to forward it as a bug to Maxis.)
Well, I'd like to thank you for all your help! It's the most help I've gotten on this matter! I somehow got a few more downloads to work (Don't ask me how, cause I have NO idea!) So a few are better than none! As for a virus, my PC was THROUGHLY scaned for them, I had also just gotten this brand new PC a few weeks before, so...well.....anway! Again, thanks again for all your help!!
