Sims 2 University Freezes Went I...

The Sims 2 University freezes whenever my girlfriend clicks on what she tells me is the "changing table". It costs $400 dollars and is on the Kids list, under the Infinite Symbol Tab.

Whenever she clicks on it, it freezes, and she seems to click on it alot. When you hover over it it just shows the price, but as soon as you click it, it freezes!!

EDIT: I can recreate this error everytime, and SimsEP1.exe or whatever's CPU Usage goes to 100%.

Do you also get a freeze when you click "change appearance" or when your Sim goes shopping?

Do you have any downloads in your game (especially house lots or mods/hacks)?

What are your computer specs (especially CPU, RAM and the display tab information when you do a dxdiag)?

There are many possible causes of what you are experiencing, but without the above information it's difficult to pin them down.

    My System stats are:

    Pentium 4 3.4Ghz
    1024MB RAM
    DirectX 9.0c
    256 Geforce 6800 GT

And the computer doesn't freeze, just the game. I can open the Task Manager and end the process.

I checked the E:\EA Games\The Sims 2\Download folder and there's only 1,337 downloads in there, compared to her old stash of 4,000+. (With her old stash it took 15 minutes for the game to load.)

I dont know what any of items are since my gf downloaded them. I'll try removing the downloads and loading the game.

P.S. Where's the "Change Apearance" button at?
P.P.S Is there any kind of downloads checker like The Sims, used to have?

I don't know anything that can scan downloads. Sorry:depressed:

Change Appearance is an option with mirrors within the game.
There is no direct corollary for the File Cop of The Sims but over at http://sims2pack.modthesims2.com/ there is a utility that has much the same functionality. As a tool it is still being worked on and it also needs the .NET framework (free from Microsoft) so installing it isn't a quick fix either! However it seems to be well supported and fairly well documented and is well worth trying if you are having problems that are (probably) download related.

Question. Is the changing table problem occurring during game play or in buy/catalog mode?

I just tried the changing table problem in both during game play, and the catalog mode, and it froze both times. I also just tried the Change Appearance option and that worked, it was just kinda slow to open.

I Ran that utility from the link you gave me above, it found a bunch of empty packages but nothing bad from what I saw. I also found a "Sims 2 Package Scanner and Lister V1.2.1" I ran that and it found 2 hacks which I deleted.

Maybe I just need Another reinstall.

Yep change appearance is slow to open because it has to load a whole pile of content into an already crowded memory. (and that's in a good PC like wot mine is :p)

Folks! Please post some idea where stuff you find comes from or else we just end up with hoardes of other visitors saying

"Awesome! Wear did u get that"

Ur, I just tried it and it only found a quarter of the Pescado hacks I have installed. It seems to rely on the hackers reporting their own work ... like yeah, right.
