Need some help Hey guys I know this was somewhere in the site, but I just can't seem too fiind it. I have a lot of downloaded clothes and bedding...no objects or hacks or anything. Now I have noticed that I am not seeing all the downloaded clothes and I can't find the bedding or bed frames that I have downloaded. Can anyone help me with this. Let me know what is going on... Thanks
The most common cause of this is having the option to show custom content turned off. It's in the "game options" part of the Options menu and is called "Catalog Display Custom Content." Also, some of the custom content won't display if you have not installed the CEP (color enable package.) You can find the CEP on the SimPE site: SimPE site The bedding should show up however (since it doesn't require the CEP.) Some do not show up because they are defective. (You might get a flashing blue or black thing showing up in the catalog, for instance. Or it may be just blank.) In terms of clothes (and some objects), if they come from new meshes, they won't show up in your game unless you have also acquired the base mesh. There are a lot of new meshes being used out there and I've noticed that not all the clothes (especially) note that they require a new mesh. So, those won't show up. Also, there were some tops (especially women's tops, from what I've read) that would not show up in the TS2 base game until the patch. Another thought is that you may have a hack and not be aware of it. If you've downloaded any lots/houses, these may have hacks in them. On the exchange they are usually spotable in the "Details" of the custom content. But other sites may not show them that way. Using the clean installer from MTS2 is helpful in spotting them as you are installing them or even after they've inadvertently been installed. You can find the clean installer here: http://sims2pack.modthesims2.com/ Also, this is more of a trouble shooting thing, so I'm going to move the thread to that forum.
My show custom content is on...I have no hacks...and I have found the bedding, but not the bedframes. So I really do not know what the issue is...
Yea sorry I have the CEP. I have the CEP located on my desktop...does it have to be in the downloads folder. I downloaded it and it does appear in my add/remove programs list...but does it make a difference whether it is in my desktop or in the downloads folder?
Oh drat. I'm outa ideas. Best advice is to suggest that you go back to where you got them from and start over with downloading. I have similar problems myself. (aaarrggghh!) LOL No matter how carefully you study the instructions it is always possible to get the wrong end of the stick. You may well be missing a mesh or something that you need to get from some other site ... or it could just be a gremlin. (You did actually unzip the files, didn't you .... noooo, of course you did! )
if it appears under add/remove it should work anyhow...just check if in your Download folder is a package called _EnableColorOptionsGMND.package Plus, what just comes to mind...if the objects, you downloaded are recolors, you'd need the original, unaltered object too (since the recolor packages don't contain the complete object -le
Well being that I really can not remember which of those files in downloads are what I guess I'm just gonna start redownloading. Do I have to uninstall old downloads to add the same ones because I don't want to erase everything in the folder, but I want to know if re-duplication is a problem...
This is a problem, Valerie. The more downloads you have the longer it takes to load up the game. The game will take 100 of identical downloads if they all have different names. The best you can do is either put up with it or throw them out and start over or move them out and put them back one or a few at a time checking after each batch to see what the results are. (And keeping a pencil and paper record of the name of each one so that it is easy (er) to find again if you need to pull it back out. In essence the rule is always gonna be the same. If you download stuff be ready for trouble. A lot of us are just too darn trigger happy when it comes to downloading goodies. (I'm no better!) We see the goodies laid out before us and we download like tomorrow is optional and then what do we do ...? Yeah. We just unzip the whole mess and drop it into the downloads folder and then ... we wonder why it went pear-shaped. Don't cry, though, cos we'll laugh at you ... well we will when we've stopped crying over our own stupidity ...
