I'm a new member, and I have many questions, mostly about death of the sims...

Heyy! I'm sure you guys could be a help...

    1) Today, Brandi Broke died on my game... I know why (It was a mix of exhaustion/misery/sickness/hunger.. lol u can see she really wasnt in good condition), but she didn't get a grave- she got a thing of ashes. I also can't move it. Can you move it like a normal object? Is there somewhere special to put it or something? Also, the grim reaper just came kind of randomly before she died. Does the grim reaper always come, or do they just die sometimes?
    2) How many possible ways are there for your sim to die, and what are they?
    3) Why do some turn to gravestones and some to ashes?
    4) Do you put the graves in certain places? Can you make a graveyard
    5) after angela pleasant's greatest want was to defeat the grim reaper and her biggest fear was to lose to him... why? was it because she was going out with dustin broke and brandi died? or is she about to see the grim reaper? and how can she beat him? and if she loses to the grim reaper, doesn't she die? also, wouldn't dustin be the one against the grim reaper since he is so miserable too?
These questions and any more info about death and how to avoid it would be appreciated.. i kno im asking a lot lol... stuff i should probably know, but i just started the sims 2 and im not too good lol thanks

Welcome to ... er "the whole darn world" ... ;)

Death is like a complete downer. It's a definite day spoiler, no question and that seems to be as true for sims as for for 'reals' :p

Gravestones versus urns of ashes ... urns are indoors while tombstones belong outside.

You can move either .. but only when no sims are using them (eg to mourn) ... you can move them when in use by using the 'moveobjects' cheat ... ;)

If your sim dies alone, chances are you're out of luck (so to speak) unless you have that regroovator or what ever it is. you have to be in the room to argue with the reaper for your sims life.

actually you have a pretty good chance of winning. but the crux is you have to be there. if you're concentrating on another sim in the house, you may very well miss what's happening elsewhere. have fun.

It appears to be a straight 50:50 probability with the reaper ... tho I could be wrong ;) If I had a choice of sims to do the begging I'd probably choose the one that loved the departed one the most ... but then I'm just a soppy so-and-so ... what would I know? :p

Actually all my sims have beaten grim, when they know he's there. That stupid mirror that tells me something inane is going on, often fails to tell me when he's around. go figure!

grims easy to beat. ive never lost to him but i think if you use a sim who loved the sim who has died and is very happy, i think you have a better possibility to win.

You need to get a Sim who had a really high relationship with the other Sim to plead with the reaper to have a good chance of winning, as it's based on relationship score, but even where the relationship was 100, the reaper reduces it to 90 so there is still a chance of failure. He then picks a random number and if the adjusted relationship score is higher than that number, the Sim is returned to life.

There are 9 ways for a Sim to die:
    Old Age
    Drowning
    Electrocution
    Burning
    Starvation
Satellite (Watch clouds or stargaze without the telescope, very small random chance a satellite will fall on the sim)
Death by Flies (when a lot is really messy with fly-infested objects, the flies can become a giant swarm. If a sim then steps over a fly infested object, there's a random chance he will be eaten by the swarm)
    Disease
Scared to Death (by a ghost)

    Hope this helps!:winks:
