    stairs, cliffs, buttes etc

Has anyone worked much trying to build houses on buttes and cliffs or in caves? I've figured out how to make the terrain but I'm having a hard time getting stairways to go as I want. Supposedly you can click+drag a connecting stair up a cliff but it doesn't work for me. And once you've placed an outdoor connecting stair, you can't delete it. I can make bridges by building decks on columns and then deleting the columns, but you have to have things at the right height and level. Very time-consuming. But it's the stairs that frustrate me. Any suggestions welcome.

When it works, it's a cool effect. I have one lot with each room on a different butte and the little Sims have to go up and down and all over to get anywhere, bathroom to kitchen to bedroom, endless stairs. Vicarious exercise.

To build a connecting stair it has to be at the top of the cliff to go down. Click + drag doesn't work. To delete it hold ctrl while acting like you were placing a new stair. As for bridges use foundations.

Further to Flamey's advice: deleting connecting stairs is sometimes a bit quirky ... you have to keep clicking (while holding down that Ctrl key) all over the stairs until the game decides you're serious and the stairs disappear.
