no name option for new baby hello there, i'm new on this site, and i have a problem. whilst playing on my sims 2, i had a women who was preganant, who has already had one child previously. she went into labour and gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. however, i wasn't given the option to name the baby, and she just put it on the floor. i could not save the game, or enter build or buy mode. So, i ended the game by using ctrl+alt+del and started playing with the same family, hoping it wouldnt happen again....but it did. exactly the same problem occured. i have never experienced this problem before, and i'm wondering if anyone could help me please. thanks xxx
That happened to me once when one of my people had twins. After a little while - I can't remember if it was a Sim day or just a few hours - I was given the chance to name the babies. So don't worry, you should be able to name them pretty soon! -Lindz
help hi, the baby has now grown into a toddler, and i stil haven't had the option to name the child. build/buy modes are still disabled, and i cannot save the game, so currently it's minimized. please help, wot shall i do? xxx
Try Ctrl+Shift+C then type:- boolprop testingCheatsEnabled true - then press [Enter] (NOTE just the red stuff! And the spaces are important!) Assuming you type it correctly the cheat console will disappear. Then hold down [Shift] and click the mailbox Choose the option "Object Interaction Error" Click the reset button See if that allows you to save. To be honest though your best bet is just to dump the game and restart it and play that family over again. It might be a chore but maybe that will help you to remember to save more often. To exit from the game if the in-game control can't be accessed: Press [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Delete] On the applications tab click on The Sims 2 and then click the "End Task" button. You may get a warning about losing unsaved stuff ... but at least you will be able to go back to where you were the last time you started the game.
thanks thanks for your help, but unfortunatel it didn't work. i tried the bool prop thing and i still wasn't able to save. also, it's the third time i've played with that family since the birth of that baby, and i have nver been givent the option to name the child. so, i have a feeling that even if i do try again, then i the option still won't be available. thanks anyway for all your help, i think i'll exit and play with another family instead and just hope that there are no more births that have the same problem. thanks again, xxx
Oh dear. You have my sympathies. I have been in the same situation and lost not just a fave family but everything. The golden rule that all players must never forget is this: Always exit without saving when an unexpected failure occurs (It goes without saying that it is essential to save the game regularly every sim day - for example at the time the maid arrives for work. That way you are never at risk of having to play over more than 24 sim hours. )
