    not aging!

I am having so many problems with this family! Now they aren't aging. I never used a cheat and I hate to do it. The toddler is not growing up, it always says child in 2 days, day after day! Do I need to use a cheat? Which one? Sorry, I don't know about this stuff.

I don't know. They should be aging every afternoon at six (I think). The only thing that I can think of is that you must make sure that you are playing the sims past that time of the sim day. If not they never age.

On the other hand, strange things happens to sims all the time due to glitches that I don't know how to deal with.

    Best regards,
    Boerge

It is true that a sim aging event occurs every day at 6pm at which time the age bar flickers barber-pole red and white and lengthens a tad. Tell us if the other sims on the lot are aging or if it is only the toddler that is stuck. We need to to be sure about this before we can consider the possible causes.

None of them are aging- not mom, dad, or the two kids! They don't get older each day like they are supposed to. I played them for five days with no change.

there is always the chance that you "caught" some anti-aging hack by downloading a lot from somewhere
For some reason I will never understand, Maxi's programmers decided that it would be a good thing if with every lot one packs, all global hacks active on that computer are included automatically
to make sure you could add a
    aging -on
    to userStartup.cheats
    in \My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Config
if the file isn't there, create it with notepad...with just that one line aging -on
    -le

after I type in aging -on do I click save?

    That implementation will not work.

    First a new questions:

Do any of your other families have the same problem? (If yes drag your My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads folder to the desktop to stop them being used by the game and try playing again)

If that doesn't work it's time for plan B ;)

First check for a global cheat.

    Look for
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2

The folder may be empty (like mine is). If it isn't double click it and then double click the config folder and look for a file named something like "globalStartup". If found open it up (with Notepad if Windows asks you what to use) and read it. if you find "aging off" change the eowrd off to "on" and your troubles are over :)

If so go on to look for

    C:\Documents and Settings\~yourname~\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Config

In config there are only a few files. Look for one called "userStartup"

If it is there, double click it (tell Windows to use Notepad to open it if it asks you how to open the file) and add the following red line then save and close:

    aging on

If is not there you will need to create one.

Open Notepad (Start >> All Programs >> Accessories)

Type one line exactly the same as the red line above

    Click File >> Save As

in the File Name: box type the name exactly as shown below in the red line

    userStartup.cheat

below that is the Save as type: box. Click the chevron on the box's right and choose the All files option

Finally use the Save As navigation tools to navigate through to
    My Documents
    > EA Games
    > > The Sims 2
    > > > Config

click the save button and try the game again. :)
