Objects Gone All Blue??? I know the answer may be here somewhere but I can't find it. Since installing Sims2University all objects I have downloaded have turned into blue blobs? Clothing is fine...it's just the objects. It was absolutely fine until I installed the new expansion pack. If I could get them to work properly again I would be very grateful. Please remember to use 'very' simple explanasions as I'm not too good with brief or technical terms as I'm terrible with computer issues. Thank you....
Oh, Faith, honey, this is a very big and common problem. S2U was un-compatabile with many of the object downloads. If you have older objects or have items that we not created with the compatability problems fixed, they will no longer work with S2U. Since you are like me, not a computer-genius, then I will not suggest trying to use a program like SimsPE to change the compatibility. I tried that and really screwed up my game. 1st off, make sure that you didn't accidently delete the Color Enabler Patch. If you have, then none of your objects will work. The file, called "CEP", should be in your Downloads Folder. Go back to the SimsPE site and re-download it if it is not there. But I'm betting that isn't the problem, since this started right after you intalled Uni. The easiest thing to do is to go into "buy" mode, then click on every blue object and delete it in-game. When you click on a custom content file that is not working, there is a little icon on the right bottom corner of the "Buy" window that looks like a folder with an arrow coming out of it that says "delete". The game will ask you if you're sure you want to delete the custom content. Tell it "Yes", and then you're done. That way you can see what works and what doesn't. Because I'm sure that you have 100's of downloads with diffrent clothes, hair, makeup, and homecrafter files that work fine, so you don't want to just delete your entire Downloads folder. Just delete the stuff that is not working in-game. Look on the biright side: By cleaning all these files out, you'll have plenty of disk space for MORE STUFF! LOL And "Sims Shopping" can be really fun!
It didn't occur to you actually look then? This thread titled: "Blue Objects" was active only a few days ago. Please try to use the search facilities before asking questions. To use a search facility first look for the word Search somewhere in the navigation or menu bars. Then give it one (or better still two) words to search for. In this instance the word blue and the word objects seem apt. You'll find the link above even highlights all the examples of those words to save you trouble of looking too hard
Many of the flashing blue guys have been updated. If you go back to where you found the objects originally, you can often find the updated version (which should say something like "EP ready" or "University ready" depending on the site.) It's only the objects which have problems, as anything from Homecrafter or Bodyshop (which are both Maxis tools) work just fine with the new EP. It's only the objects which, if made after midFebruary are often ok, but if they were made prior to that and not replaced after the updated SimPE came out with the changes to fit with TS2U. Maxis worked a lot with the SimPE people to get the updated version to work with the EP. And they've also worked with others to get their object changers working.
