Is it fair - Movie Competitions? Okay, as I was working on that USC movie contest, and was thinking about past competitions, it got pretty annoying that everytime we have to put that made with Sims 2 Trademark at the very end of movies, we loose approximately 10 seconds of storytime. Does anyone find this a bit annoying?
Well, I agree, Josh. When I already have a movie that is 12 megs, and the limit is 10 megs, and the song isn't a legal song, and then I have to put their comercials on the end of it, and then I probably won't win anyway because it's fixed, then I just throw up my hands and say, "s#&% it" and just let my baby watch the movie I made over and over again because at least he likes it!! :disappointed: :bored: :depressed:
I do not like my movies to be restricted of their creativity. To confine a film to a time limit, and then have to put commercials at the end in order to be considered...not to mention limiting what I can work with, footage and music-wise... I'm sticking with gametrailers.com.
What I think is not fair is that only US residents can take part in the competition. It does not go well in hand with the sim community having such a broad international base... - bad call by Maxis, I think :bored:
Yes I agree that it's not fair but it isn't exactly all the fault of Maxis. There are different laws in different countries and some of them have laws that forbid any sort of gaming, even when it is free! Others have age limits, others have complex trade agreements that make importing prizes a nightmare. (Besides if you check the small print there are even some parts of the US and Canada that are inelegible to enter the comps ... presumably because of some legislation or other ... ).
