    How Do I...

How do I get the parents or anyone for that matter to pick up a baby after it was put on the floor? It's been there for a long time and they all gather around, look at it and walk away then come back. It's color thing is turning yellow and it will probably starve or something. I had to stop playing with that family because I couldn't get anyone to pick it up.

Then I found this place and have been reading all I can find but still have no clue as to what to do. I found the cheat to move objects and used that to put it in the crib but they still wouldn't pick it up and feed it or anything. They all just gathered around the crib and would leave and come back again.

    Any suggestions?

And this place is great with lots of wonderful information. I'm very new to Sims and love reading the threads. I hope to take part more in the near future as I learn.

    Thanks!

    Connie

    Hi Constance:

Welcome to WorldSims! I'm sorta curious to whether you've updated your Sims 2 yet with the official patches yet..

Do you have any new objects made with SimsPE?

While we wait for Constance's reply I'll throw in my own two pence. There are two possible ways of resolving this. Both ways begin with starting your game after you have dragged the folder My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Downloads onto the desktop. This will prevent any possible (accidentally) downloaded hacks affecting the game.

The easy solution is to just move the family out of the house and into a new one. In doing this you might need to use a money cheat to help you replace their furniture. The risk in doing this is that the baby might already be at risk of being taken by the social worker and "freeing" it up this way might just attract the pesky social worker's attention too quickly for you to be able to sort out the baby's wants.

I suggest that before moving the family to a new house you try the testing cheat instead because you can always leave the family without saving and try something else if it doesn't work.

Start the game and load the family and pause it.

Bring up the cheat console. Ctrl+Shift+C

Type boolprop testingCheatsEnabled true exactly as typed (the spaces and capitals are important!)

Then hold down the Shift key and click on the Mailbox by the road. A Large new menu of options should appear. :)
One of the options has to do with errors. I haven't used this cheat much myself so I can't remember the exact wording but it's something alarming sounding like "Force Error". Click it and if there's any justice in the world a blue box will pop open to tell you all about the last error ... it might even mention the baby! Whatever ... click the option to "Reset". With a bit of luck you should be able to get someone to pick up the baby and do some urgent care stuff, cuddle, feed, change diaper, put in crib. If that doesn't help or at all or if the social worker turns up anyway then you have no option but to try the moving out and back into a new house trick and hope that that works.

You might also try deleting the baby, save the lot, exit and reenter the lot. On the other hand, I have never done that myself with babies - only to frozen adult sims. In those cases the adults reappear somehow on the lot.

Family members come back in the same way they entered the lot for the first time, and nannies come back next time they are supposed to come back.

    Best regards,
    Boerge

Poor Baby!! Does anyone else go through the roof when their Sims lay the baby on the cold, hard kitchen floor?? GRRRR!!

Another thing to do is try Merola's painting. You can have it refresh the needs of everyone on the lot. I don't have the website address, I'm at work, but try to google it.

I don't know a lot about downloading new things yet, all I have is a stuffed rabbit thing I saw somewhere. But I got that after this happened and I made a new family.

I'm going to try what Mirelly said and see what happens. If that doesn't work I'll go with the next suggestion by Brahbech.

And KristalRose, the kitchen floor is exactly where they laid the baby! :ermm: I'll look into Merola's painting as well.

Thanks everyone for the replies and I look forward to giving them a try. :)

Well I tried what Mirelly said. All went as he said it would but they still wouldn't pick up the baby.

    Now I'm tryin Brahbech's suggestion. :cross-eyed:
