Game Keeps Closing When I'm playing Sims2 for whatever reason the game will suddenly stop and the computer returns me to my desktop. The Sims2 is show on the taskbar and I can easily bring it back up but the same thing happens about a minute or so later. It's basically minimizing itself. I've uninstalled and re-installed the game twice and it hasnt been doing any good so I'm starting to think its not so much a problem with the game but a problem with my computer. Any help would be SOOOOO apprecieated.
If your game is minimizing frequently, make sure that *all* the background tasks (including the virus protection) is turned off and that you are disconnected from the internet. (The directions for how to do this are pretty extensive and are listed in the manual for the game. At some point I know I wrote them out, but I can't remember if that was for this list or for the official BBS. Doing a forum or BBS search could bring it up.) The game uses the resources of the computer pretty extensively. Anytime something competes for those resources, the game will minimize (if you're lucky and it doesn't reboot.) Even with a fairly good computer (well above all the minimum specs for the game), it can do this. Mine used to do it every time my husband would sit down at his computer (which is part of our network.) Until I added more RAM, it used to not just minimize but crash to reboot if I didn't remember to turn everything off. One thing that can also help so your game doesn't get ruined when this happens is to go to game options and click on the one that says game is stopped when minimized. It will take a little longer to come up (according to others, although I haven't noticed a difference either way), but at least you won't have your Sims doing really dumb stuff while you can't keep an eye on them.
