Graphics Problem Hi there everyone I have a small problem that has only started to happen recently. When I load the sims 2 university it is fine until i go to choose an area eg strangetown. It will pan the camera over the area and after about 5 seconds will freeze. When it un freezes it becomes very pixelated with little black squares. Does anyone have any idea what might cause this? Like i said the game used to run fine and it has only just started doing this recently. All i have tried to do to fix it is update the graphics driver. AMD Athlon XP 2400+ GeForce FX 5600 128MB Ram 512 Mb Ram Windows XP SP1 Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I think I'm going to move this over to the Tech Support area so the more computer-knowlegable people will see this post and help you.
Ooh. This happened to me a while back. I have a similar system too including the 5600 but with 256MB. At the time the problem occured when I was trying to build a better dorm. I made one with a dozen rooms on a 5x5 plot. As soon as it filled up the game ground to a halt and aborting to neighborhood screen only produced the worrying pixellation that you describe. The only cure I found was to shut down the computer and allow it time to cool off. This was because I blamed the problem on overheating since the 5600 relies entirely on passive cooling. Whether this was correct or not I have no idea, but I have since avoided large dorms and the problem has not resurfaced.
