    Aging Off Question

Just got the game earlier this week and am trying to get a feel for it; so, I have been attempting to play with single Sims with the Aging Off cheat. I say attempting as the cheat doesnt seem to be working. One single has 16 days before becoming an elder, the other has 18. They live in separate lots. When I use [Ctrl] + [Shift] + C I see the cheat typed in there. Do they continue to age then stop before becoming an elder or am I doing something wrong (Im assuming the latter)?

I just installed a patch last night thats on SIMS2 official site then I went to bed. Will that make a difference?

If you turn aging off, that counter will no longer decrement at 1800 every day. It will not, however, reverse itself back to 29. It will simply remain frozen as-is.

I'm not certain, but it may be case sensitive. Try:-

    aging off

no quotes, no capitals, only one space.

Elixa of life is wonderful for turning the clock back but i think its the most expensive one of the rewards there is and you can only use it for best effect when you are platium. Sorry i dont really get into cheats.

Actually, I'm not sure about the "just in platinum" thing. I thought so too at first but my Sims gain three days whether they're gold or platinum, as far as I can tell.

I don't use cheats either. I just make sure my Sims get enough points to replenish the elixir as needed, and stay happy enough to use it.

As for expensive, I don't really like most of the "rewards" anyway. I think most of them are kidna lame. The thinking cap and the smart milk are useful, but I hate the love tub. Everyone keeps getting into it before my sims can get to know them, and you need to be at least in crush with someone to get any "love tub" snugglebunnies. I'd rather save my money and get a "real" hot tub. Not nearly as tempting for visitors! :D

The skillsucker just isn't my style and the money trees take too much of my time, so I only use them for Sims who are really broke. I kind of like the counterfeit machine, though, even though I've heard it can start on fire.

The one super useful reward other than the elixir is the tub thingy that gives you all your needs. I've used it in college, and after the birth of a child, when my Sims were just about to plotz.

That's actually how I got rid of a Sim I decided I didn't like ... just wanted to see if it would work. (It did.) Don't use it if you're below gold, if you like the Sim in question ...

It's true. Unlike the most of the other rewards that penalise use if not gold or better, I had the elixir working when used in green! (I was trying to age Goopy after one of my spinster sims married him ... she was halfway through adulthood and he moved in with a full quota of days in spite of the reality that he had been a regular visitor to her house for ages and ages.)

I should have just used the elixir to make her younger. Every time he lost 3 days I'd make him drink again and get the 3 days back again! Drat! Make him drink again and he gains another 3 days! Double drat ... 30-odd thousand points and he'd end up younger than when he started!

Thank you for all your answers! I tried using it again without caps and it seemed to work. I then got the elixir, I was in platinum and used it once so far and it made me 3 days younger.

    Thanks again!! :)

Word of warning: Unlike Mirelly, when I accidentally used the elixir while in the green my sim got older, not younger ... I'd only use it in gold just to be safe.

Sorry, I meant gold or platinum.

Cow Plant!!!! :) You can use it in green and still have days added. I haven't tried using it in red, but it works in green, gold, and platinum. :D

Yeah, but isn't that a two-edged sword? I mean, doesn't it eat people?

For those of you who have been following, I have yet to graduate anyone from college and therefore have not had a chance to test the cow plant ... with my new improved neighborhood I hope to remedy that.

Yes, it eats people. LOL Sometimes feeding the Nanny and the annoying townies to the cow plant is more of a blessing than a curse. Then your Knowledge Sims can collect tombstones and "See Dead People" . ;)

I had a knowledge sim with a dead roomie and learned one important lesson ... it's really funny if you have them chase the ghost around when their bladders are more than half full ... :D

How embarrassing for her, but fun for me ...
