Ezboard Inc. Victim Of Vicious Internet Attack Source: Halifax Live Ezboard systems touted as the "largest online community network site on the planet", was virtually brought to its knees Tuesday as the result of "a very precise and malicious internet attack resulting in the loss of a significant amount of current and historical board postings and interrupted services across all systems", according to Ezboards' CEO, Robert Labatt's message to Ezboard members. Tuesday's attack caused denial of service errors throughout the system and affected millions of users across approximately 9,000 message boards. The attack resulted in massive data loss, both current and historical from message boards within the system. Many Boards also lost accumulated monetary funds stored within their communities that is used toward Board subscription services. Labatt is ensuring Ezboards members that their personal information including credit card info remains safe and was not touched during the attack. Most message boards were accessible within several hours of the initial attack yesterday and Board owners are currently assessing the amount of data loss in their communities. Ezboards is warning their members that although they will do their best in restoring lost data, complete data restoration may not be possible. Repairs will be underway for the next week to 10 days. Ezboards is also vigorously investigating the attack itself and those responsible. They are asking that members contact Ezboards if they hear or read anything at all about the attack. Ezboards was founded in 1999 by Vanchau Nguyen and is based in San Fransico. Its hosted Web platform relies on subscription services and advertisement as their primary source of revenue. This was the start of a really bad week for me. Remember me telling you about my NASCAR message board that fell apart? The ones that left the original board went to EZ-Board. The two became segmented into little "cliques" like Elementary school. And a few of the users, like myself, went to both boards because we're friends with everyone. Some of the feuding parties lurked back and forth under pseudo-names and kept things riled up. This weekend, some of us from the EZ board went to a race together. We had been planning it for months, and the people on the main board knew about it. Suddenly, EZ Board went down. The mods and their "clique" friends made fun of the EZ board people, thought it was hillarious. The EZ Board people have decided that the mods from the main board were the ones to hack into their system, to try and stop the get-together. I kept telling them no, that they couldn't do that and wouldn't do that, but as usual, no one listens to me, and my friends couldn't enjoy themselves for worrying about what people were saying on the main board and plotting revenge. Silly, isn't it?:ermm:
If you have nothing better to do then hack people make programs to help people then. Man people need to get a life. I find that rude and wrong to hack into things. I have 3 firewalls up on my computer because of this problem, i have no info online about my cerdit card, bank account or anything just incase something like this happens. I hope they catch the people and take their computers off them forever. Ruggie - who this is just wrong
