Sims in maple syrup So for the first time ever I broke my rule and downloaded a bunch of stuff and now I think it was a bad decision. After I did that the sims in my haunted house started moving like they were stuck in molasses. The house is huge, has some downloaded stuff, and has three ghosts besides the two living residents. My video card meets the minimum requirements. I just upgraded my HD but I don't think that will help with the maple syrup problem. Not sure if this will happen in my smaller, not haunted houses, but if it does, do I need to jettison my downloads? Or is there another solution I can try, short of upgrading the PC once again?
The house size is more than likely to be what is causing lag in your game, it happens to me too so I try to stick to smaller, more managable houses, my comp just doesn't cope, and I have great graphics and plenty of ram. Such downloads as clothes, make-up, walls, floors and recolours of maxis objects shouldn't slow your game down, I do believe that new meshes(objects made into something else) may though. So don't jettison your new downloads, just be aware of what things slow you down. Oh, another thing, I have hundreds of downloads and while they aren't affecting my game play so much, they do slow down the start up sequence.
Thanks, Sylla. I did some experimenting last night and you're right, the smaller houses ran fine. Too bad, too, because my haunted house is so fun. I have two knowledge sims, sisters, living there. One of them is really evil. Complete serious grouch. The other is more normal. I planned to have evil kill normal at some point ... I'm not usually evil. The haunted house was my outlet, darnit ... I already killed off the Normal sisters and Bob Roberts ... boy was I mean to Bob. Poor schmuck.
ROTFLMAO at Witches!!! Yeah, and I'm not a hussy in real life, but I sure do like playing those romance sims and seeing how many out-of-wedlock kids and " my baby's daddies" my female sims can collect. LMAO!! So I know where you're coming from. Back on topic: I downloaded a bunch of larger houses from a website. Beautiful mulit-level mansions with many rooms. I went to play the 1st one and low and behold my family was so slow they were almost unplayable. Sadly I had to move them out, build them a new house with only 2 stories and 4 bedrooms. :depressed: They play fine now.
