Game Locking Up I have been happily playing the Sims 2 for a month or two now. I was overjoyed to receive University but have yet to really play it. For whatever reason I cannot load a lot. Everything works fine until the second I go to access any lot (with or without a family present). The hourglass keeps spinning as if it is going to load and the music never skips a beat, but the lot never ever loads. HELP!!!
I am afraid that this sounds like you you will need to uninstall the game and reinstall all the way from square one. It doesn't happen to many folks but when it does it's a right royal nuisance. If you backed up your original game files then please take care of them because you'll need them after you reinstall The Sims 2 and before you reinstall University. If you didn't back up before installing University ... aaarrgghhh! Try plan B ... Open My Documents and double click EA Games. Make sure you can see some of the desktop around the My Documents window and then drag the folder named The Sims 2 out of My Documents and onto your desktop. Try restarting the game ... it will create a brand new set of Maxis made neighborhoods. If you can load and play lots then you know that your saved games folder is corrupted and (probably) cannot be cost-effectively repaired. If you have back ups you're ripe for a reinstall. If you still cannot load and play lots then your game installation is faulty and reinstalling should fix things. Again be careful to preserve your saved games files.
