    Nine Sims In a Family

Yep I searched and I can't believe I just found this ... surely someone has had it happen and posted about it.

    What?

I got a house with nine sims in it without using a cheat. That isn't supposed to happen :( I rely on the 8 limit to help me avoid twins when I don't want them by moving in a lodger before trying for a baby ... thus forcing the game to set a single baby rather than pesky to handle twins.

OK This is how it happened. The Wilsons were making loads of dough and although they were getting on they still wanted to have lots more grandchildren than seemed sensible so I hit on the idea of adoption. Anyway, what with one thing and another I miscalculated and forgot some stuff in all the disjointed time travelling that goes on between neighborhood and campus ...

I moved one of the sons back into the house after he graduated bringing the family size back to 6. That graduate had a GF back at the campus I wanted him married to and as the next teen in the family was close to flying the coop I had the Wilson seniors go for adoption. The kid that came was such a little funster I ordered another one ... well my memory isn't too good on that point cos I must have ... I left that house a week or so ago to play on the campus characters and today I just dropped the newly graduated GF into the Wilson house (which was OK cos it made it up to 8). I went in to play it and it was Saturday, 9am. How cool is that? I have a whole weekend to finish maxing out the teen's skills before sending her off to college on Sunday night ... after a nice fambly wedding Stak and Tina will be able to start off the next generation as soon as they get back from their honeymoon because the lot will again have a vacancy.

Imagine how surprised I was when the build/buy mode greyed out at 10am when the social worker turned up. Argh! What did I do? Did forget a kid and leave it starving in the attic? No darn it! This do-gooder isn't taking my kids away she's bringing in more. Patinetly I waited for the game engine to figure out that nine is one too many, being a factor of at least one larger than eight :bandit: ... but no. I had to build an extra (very odd-shaped) bedroom for the poor wee foundling in the rafters of the Wilson mansion ... cos I labored long and hard over making it look great from the outside while still being ergosimonic on the inside and sproglet numero neuf wasn't gonna spoil my roofline, no how :p

Meanwhile Stack and Tina's plans for starting a family are on hold ... maybe Tina will cast her eyes elsewhere a sim girl's clock doesn't have an awful lot of ticks in it at the best of times. I'm starting to think this fambly is jinxed.

ROTFLMAO!!! Poor Mirelly!!! At least the new baby will have plenty of people to take care of it. ;)

I've clicked on "Try For Baby" when I meant to click "Woo Hoo" while playing with the sound off, so when poor Stacey started to pooch out, I almost fell in the floor! Stacey is a red-headed floozy from wayyyy back in her college days, and conquest #6 on her way to 10 notches was ugly, skanky George Clonch. George has his black, greasy hair pulled back in a pony-tail, his ears and nose are Waaaayy too big, his eyes wayyy too small for his long face, and he has a beer belly. :p Guess who poor little baby Colby looks like? He's still a toddler, so I'm hoping that he will grow into his features or will just work out to look more like Mom, but so far. . .

That will teach Stacey to be more selective about the boys she romances, huh? LMAO!!!

Yes, there's definitely something to be said about choosing for the gene pool ... poor Colby! Let us know if he grows out of it. I had a kid, Bennet, who was really cute until he hit adulthood, and then bam! Ugly. He has normal looking parents, so it's hard to explain ... so maybe the reverse will happen for Colby.

On the other hand, Lilith is a beautiful child. She was even a beautiful toddler. But how could she miss? Her parents are super hotties, both of them.

I'd post pictures but they have hairstyles and clothes I downloaded from someone else's site. Is that allowed?

Oh, sure, you can post the pics. If you remember where you got the custom content, it would be nice to give them some advertisement. (and maybe if I like it I'll know where to go get it for myself ;) ) It's the sharing of files that you didn't make that is not okay. You're not sharing the file, you're just showing it off. Custom Content Designers like that, at least, I think they do.

Cool. My guy has some serious Rasta dreads. Wouldn't look the same without them. I'll try to post soon. (Can't from this computer.)

Is the best way to take a screen capture, rather than a snapshot? I never like how those turn out.

I just reduced the size of my family from 8 to 6. (I let Grandma die, and moved out the young man.) The game would often freeze briefly and I couldn't line up as many tasks and so on. Eight sims all going about their tiny lives (bwa-ha-ha-ha!!) seemed like too much for the processor.

I've had 8 before, and you're right, for some reason 6 or sometimes even 7 is OK but 8 is always sloooooowwwwww for me too. 6 seems much more manageable, even if someone has to die. :p

We love pics soooo much SBW.

Yes a screen cap is always better than the ingame snapshots but please spare a thought for folk with slowere connections and take a moment or two to optimise your pic for the web. Generally speaking a 10-30% jpg compression is barely noticeable regarding quality but is dramatically reduces the file size and thus the loading times ... :)

    Cool beans, thanks Mirelly!

I have a good screen capture program I can use, and I'll be sure to optimize first. I have some houses and community lots I'm considering uploading, but I don't have a ton of spare time (at least not at home LOL) so it may be a while before this bears fruit. Or walls. :D

ManagerJosh asked me to send him a PM whatever that is I assume that means some pictures of what I plan to upload, and I'd like to show off my new, smaller collection of Sims too ...

I now have a lover's quadrangle. Next I plan to throw a party and let the sparks fly ... hee hee. I'll try to take pictures.

    Here goes nothing ...

My first picture upload attempt didn't go so well. Let's try this again.

Mr. Rosnovski and his girlfriend and her kid, the Rostanovs. I like names that start with R lately, what can I say?

Bless you SBW, but you have used the gif format for those screen grabs. Although GIF is a so-called lossless compression algorithm it is limited to 256 colours which was great back in the days of horse powered computers (and still is for web site graphics, like simple buttons, if you don't mind the fact that Unisys still -- probably -- own the license for it and think they are being cheated out of galactic quantities of cash every time it is used ... ooh political opinion  ;) ) the jpg formula is much the better system for photography and photo-like images. It is always available as an option in image-processing software ... what are you using?

[Edit BTW I don't think that is really necessary to list the custom content that is visible. Just be aware that other folks might see something they like and sqeal "oooh! wherever did you get that lovely (whatever)". The last time that happened to me I was able to tell the questioner that I found the dress concerned on a website that she had recommended ... her reply was quite funny ]

Well garsh ... here I thought a jpg would be too heavy. I use Photoshop, and they always recommend gifs ... so you're saying my pictures ain't pretty, is that it, huh? Sniffle.

I will post jpgs from now on. I was going to send out some of my lots for approval sometime soon and I have to have them looking their best!

    Thanks, Mirelly.

Taking notes, going to have to go Sims-Shopping this evening when I go home. I absolutely LOVE Mom's outfit, and I've never visited Simply Styling before. Sigh, just after I cleaned out my downloads folder, I go filling it up again!

Be careful. Simply Styling is my favorite site for clothes. They have some really nice stuff! I went a little download crazy.

I credited people because I thought that's what I was supposed to do ... I tell ya. So much to learn.
