On being awarded the 2012 Olympics. British French rivalry has never been so keenly contested ... and how glad I am that when push comes to shove we can still whup their derrieres :p

LOL Josh. But she must be thinking that London is just one long never ending party ... she arrived on Saturday to an open air rock concert featuring U2, Madonna, The Who, Paul McCartney and Pink Floyd plus some more modern turns who have yet to prove their durability :p Then on Wednesday it's party time again in Trafalgar Square (for the Olympic thing ;) ) How cool is that? to have a whole city putting on a load of special parties just for your visit!

We were in a hotel that was two blocks from the concert. Massive crowds. Since we had only just arrived in London Saturday and hadn't gotten much rest on the plane we didn't venture those two blocks. Instead, we had fish and chips for supper at a pub in the opposite direction, then crashed in our hotel room, fell asleep listening to the music boom through a closed window.

On Wednesday we happened to be riding the London Eye (enormous ferris wheel on the Thames) when the jets flew overhead spewing smoke the color of the British flag (red, white and blue) announcing to all that London would get the Olympics.

It was all great until the next day, of course, when the bombing happened. I believe there is a special place in hell waiting for the monsters who are responsible for those attacks.
