    bad pancakes

Bad, bad pancakes. Young Oz had just woohooed her way into another pregnancy, slept a bit and then got up to make pancakes in the middle of the night. Of course, what else? And she burned them. (Of course.) She ate them anyway and she DIED! Omigod she died, in the creamy center of her adult life, with a toddler in the crib and a bun in the oven and there's the reaper and she's all curled up in agony on the kitchen floor and she's DEAD.

I didn't save. Of course! I was really upset! Weirdly enough, no one in the family noticed.

Second time around (on the same sim day), she got pregnant again and now we're being verrry careful....

Pregnant sims have been known to spontaneously die of unexplained causes. It is believed that this is either intentional, or an artifact of code so obfuscated that it's impossible to otherwise make heads or tails of it.

I've raised her from a baby! She's mine! Even with those Pippi pigtails. I was shocked and upset. Leave it to Pescado to mention code. This is family, man.

As the unfortunate witness of my own terrifying "Sudden Pregnant Death Syndrome" demise recently, I feel for you Jiko. You're right, some sims may much more than just code to us! LOL Sims quickly become "people". and I try to not exit without saving because life is random and well, sometimes the little oddities that TS2 throws at me makes my game more interesting. But, still, it seems soooo unfair!!

BTW, I did save the game where my sim-self died, but it was all so harsh and tramatic for my little sim husband that he couldn't take it. Nothing I could do, not even letting him knock up the gardner he'd been flirting with for months, could make poor Jimmy happy. (I only hope that my own RL Hubby mourns for me as much as poor Jimmy did my Sim-self!) So, I resurected me. :) I haven't played that house since I did it, so I'm waiting to see how the fireworks go when Sim-self, all healthy and young again, in the prime of her adult life, with 29 days left before she turns into an elder, walks into her house with her babies now in school, her husband old and gray, and the gardner and her pregnant belly in her bed!! (Does anyone else hear McDonald Carrey's voiceover: "Tune in tomorrow for another episode of 'Days of Our Lives'"?)

LOL Kristal. What a great set-up. You'll have to let us know how it turns out!

LMAO Kristal. Your sims sound a lot like mine ... prone to most human foibles. I got miffed with Melanie the cow this afternoon (cos she flirted with someone else's BF) so I locked her in the cellar. Pretty soon I got used to her pathetic (and obviously insincere self-piteous mewlings ;) ) so I was a bit surprised when a shaft of ethereal light stabbed thru the kitchen a day or two later ... oh no! Melanie! What have I done? Oh well ... that's obviously gonna be the best house for knowledge sims to rent at that campus.

LOL. By the looks of it, you've all gone off-track. Wasn't this thread called bad pancakes?

Nah. It's definitely all caused by those naughty pancakes. In the old days when cakes where cakes and pans were pans things never ever went wrong. So no off-topicking here ...

You see, Kristal's sim self died the choking death which is sorta like the bad pancake death, so not off topic at all, not us, nosiree ... never dream of it says she who got a thread closed for wandering all over the place.

So am I the only one who thinks the musical Cats is an exercise in mediocrity that should have TS Eliot turning over in his grave? :D

    Hee hee ... couldn't resist.

    1. I've never had a Sim die of choking death...yet. You'd think I would, having had this game since October 2004.

    2. I've also never had a Sim die when she was pregnant...yet. Almost lost Paine due to the twins. I bet she'd die if she ever met her granddaughter Andromeda. ;)

    3. I've never seen Cats...or killed off a mascot...yet.

There are many who would say that Lord Webber's entire catalogue is an exercise in mediocrity .... ;)

    death and dying

Recently lost one of my favorite sims, Latte Coffee, to old age. She came home from work and bam! Hula dancers and the works. couldn't even talk to Grim about keeping her around. Then my adopted baby started screwing up the game. people would get the pick up the baby message and then nothing they just stood there. I moved him to a different crib. same thing. he didn't cry or anything. I laid him on the cold, cold floor and still no one could pick him up. so I zapped the kid (move_objects on, delete) and now people have memories of the adoption but nothing else. should I erase their memories too?

    LMAO at Witches.

Maybe since we "edlers" keep offending our younger visitors with our ramblings, we need a forum with title: Sim Converstations that Go Off Topic And Will Probably Contain Conversations About Nothing That Go On For 4 Pages!" LOL! Hey Josh, I think Witches, Mirelly, and I would keep that one hot! It would be open to everyone, but those people who don't like our getting off topic will not visit so we never have to live in the constant fear of having our posts reported, complained about, or even the dreaded deleted or moved.

Y'all, I'm just kidding, please, no one take offense to the nutso stuff that I type today. I'm procrasitinating doing some real work, can't be home with my Simmies, and so here I am, talking nonsense on a message board.

On a more related note: I played my Sim-self house last night for, oh, 4 hours. Kept making movie clips of some of the fireworks. So far I have let the sleezy Gardener Ericka stay and have her baby. She has high skills and is a good slave. But Sim-self is the one taking care of her baby, Ericka is afraid of changing a diaper!! So, okay, it's a fair trade off: I'll change diapers and feed babies, you do the dishes and clean the house. Just as long as you understand who's sleeping with my husband (me!) and who's sleeping on a hard wooden bench on the porch in her underwear, you skank! (that would be Ericka.) As I said, I will make a movie when I decide if she's going to stay, go, or have an unfortunate accident.

I've never had a sim die the choking death, either. The closest I came to having a sim die during pregnancy was when she got needs deprived ... I already told this story in another thread ...

My daughter forced me to watch Cats with her. OK, didn't force but you try saying no to big brown eyes. I saw the musical when I was in college. My parents took us. It was the last musical my dad let my mom drag him to. He was asleep before the end of the second act. I loved the book and just hate the musical.

On a sims related topic ... Wolf and Ischade have a child named Lilith and Dante and Lia have a child named Cyn. All four adults had woohoo with each other, and then, whoops! Dante invited Ischade and Wolf to Cyn's becoming-a-teenager party and now they all hate each other. I've never seen so much slapping. Lia came home and more slapping ensued. Cyn hates Wolf, Ischade is barely speaking to him, and every time Dante sees him he slaps him across the face ... hee hee this is fun. Lilith invited her dad to her party (he doesn't live with them) because Ischade sure wasn't about to and Mom turned her back on him when he arrived ... Meanwhile the triplets' mom has made enemies with Lia (she flirted with Dante) and their dad ends up getting joy-buzzered every time he tries to make a new friend. He finally managed to become friends with Christy Stratton so I think they'll probably have an affair.

I could get used to this. It's so much more fun than everyone getting along.

P.S. When Lilith was a baby she got stuck on the kitchen floor. I left without saving and all was well when I got back ... whew.

I have three houses in baby messes right now, and another on the way, after resurrection following the bad pancakes episode. (Back on topic, see, Josh? Good forum visitor, good girl!)

Hour by sim hour I find myself letting go of control, though. I've let the ghosts out of their mausoleum and they're back to roaming the grounds and banging the chairs, scaring the kiddies and all. None of the teens are getting all their homework done, the fridge is always running on empty, the dirty diapers and bottles pile up and now some people are skipping work, too, sometimes with those absurd fake "sick" calls ("Gee, you sound terrible!") and sometimes by just blowing it off, buddy, take this job and shove it. I used to not save a game if someone lost a chance card or got demoted but now it's, hey baby, that's life and let's see what happens.

The funny thing is, I think they're all just as happy as they were when I was madly controlling their "aspirations." Hell, I aspired to wear a bikini once, and THAT sure as heck never happened! I'm okay anyway.

Now I might go make a skanky doll in her undies who has to sleep on the porch. I like that idea!

    Bad, bad pancakes...

I just experienced the choking death for the first time last night. With my new neighbourhood that I started (see post elsewhere about townies), I made myself a new sim, and got her pregnant from a townie that I moved in. While making herself pancakes the stove caught alight and then her. The firefighter arrived and put her and the stove out.

Then I picked up a bug with the stove, where nobody could get the burnt food from it and obviously not make anything further with the stove ... so while I was figuring out some way to fix this (including saving and re-entering the lot, which in hindsight may not have been the best idea...), my pregnant sim clutched her throat, keeled over and that was it! AArgh  ... it was late so I exited without saving ... Hopefully tonight her fiance can save her from death, he's going to have to, I created this neighbourhood for this sim...

Burnt food has a possibility of getting your sim sick, right?
