many ofmy sims have reached their aspiration and none of them has turned platinum or stayed that way either! i have no clue! i mean it isn't detrimental but i sure wonder why it isn't happening!

The aspiration meter only goes up by certain levels, the higher the want, the higher up it goes, and no, it doesn't stay that way either, it goes down again after a small period of time until another want is fulfilled.

You mean reaching a lifetime want hasn't given your sim a permanent platinum mood?

yes exactly, lifetime aspiration has been fullfilled with several different sims and nothing has happened. depletion is occurring like normal! so i have no clue! i have tweeked with my game at all or anything like that! no downloads or patches or anything. maybe it has a bug or something. who flippin knows!

This isn't something that sounds as though it might occur with multiple sims. I have seen no other mention of similar problems. Of course a bug is possible but first we should eliminate the most obvious possibilities. The only one that occurs to me is (forgive me) that you are mistaken about the lifetime achievement attainments. Setting aside that it's only available in University the lifetime wants are displayed in the large pop-up panel associated with the associated with the aspiration section. Perhaps you could tell me a few of the lifetime wants that your sims have achieved without getting permanent platinum status.

yes i have had someone make a hall of famer, graduate so many kids from college, become chief of staff, reach golden anniversary! so forth and so on, but still nothing is happening! i am at a loss! i mean it isn't greatly afecting gameplay or anything, but gosh darn it i did it i should be platinum!

It is likely then to be a problem with a download which has added an odd sort of hack to your game. To be sure of this you would probably have to remove all your downloads (I usually put mine on the desktop ... just drag the whole downloads folder out of the My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/ folder. You would then play the game until you got another lifetime want and wait with bated breath to see if the permanent platinum sticks!

One thing to note is that the game always gives you a pretty big info box about the achievement of a lifetime want (same as a job promotion or car pool advice it comes in at top right corner of screen and has to be clicked to get rid of it) ... I take it that you've had these notices???

i used to have them but they do not come up at all anymore. it is like anything with jobs or lifetime aspirations are void or soemthing. plus i have never downloaded anything so i don't think that is it either!

Just a note: Instead of double replying, you can edit you're post and add what you what to say. Saves a bit of time scrolling down.

All that I can think of is uninstaling the expansion pack, or even the whole game. THAT'S why I don't get EP. Or I'm broke. Does the meter still move? e.g. From top red to gold.

You can't edit your posts after a certain amount of time. 30mins I think.
But anyway it's less than six days.

I think it's a matter of hours. 2, maybe 3? Can't remember off the top of my head... just remember that I found it out the hard way a few days ago. :p
