Well...I say that peopl are entitled to their opinions..when they thread on christianity...we should let em... We can learn from any weakness in our religion and come out stronger in our beliefs
i agree with you lew, people have their own rights, opionins and such, but if you look at something through your own religion all the time, your bound to fall and fail...look at life through someone else's eyes for a day...
Interesting. When someones opinion more or less hurt us.. there's were we fall and risk go down towards hate ... It starts with upsetness and rage.. You always want to protect your believes. I know the feeling you get when the things you treasure gets degraded. It's hard when you get your beliefs oppressed or trampled on. It hurts. Still God gave us our free will .. to choose... He gave us the rights to express ourselves. I don't call myself very religious and I accept all religions as long as they don't opress people. I have a sort of belief though otherwise I wouldn't write this. But I can see something very fundamental here.. We do have the right to say what we want... But i don't believe we have the right to hurt. I think that when we get hurt , outraged, or upset with something, we do need to try to look at it more "from above". We don't have to agree. But we need to try to accept that that person or group have their rights too, even if they express themselves in a very bad way. So what is our own religion or our believes telling us to do or how to approach it? Is it with outrage, hate, or understanding or acceptance that that's how this person or group is. Is it with seeing to the fact that even if we think.. "sure this is sooooo wrong" .... and work with ourselves so we don't get burned by it. Well I don't have any definite answers. But this might be something to think about, it's just my reflexions... This is not easy to express what I really mean ... but I think it's a start.
Josh. I hope I know what you want to tell me.. I'm not sure right now as it's 3 am. I would love go deeper into matters with you. There are a lot of different christian religions. I don't think we originally belong to the same. All have differences and all have some basics in common. And re the Bible:.. There are some points I like to debate about. But I wont take those specifics up here ... What I was thinking of and responding to was your post #24 mostly. Maybe I didn't expressed it real well. I'd love discussing it with you some time ... I can only say I respect what you believe in.....
a little tid bit on evolution...... Frist of all, there are many many holes in the theory of evolution. I dont quite remember them all tho. As for that moth example, that could easily be naturaly selection. When the trees are white, the white moths blend better than the grey moths and as such the predetors of the moths are able to see the grey moths easier and so more them are killed and eaten than the white moths. THus is LOOKS like all of the moths are white. now, when the trees turn grey, suddenly the white moths stand out more then the grey moths. And the tables are turned, now becuase more grey moths apear then the white moths (white moths dont blend as well as the grey moths with the grey trees and so are eaten more) it APEARS that the white moths have "evolved" to grey ones when infact they are just bein eaten more than the grey ones. and now as the trees turn white from pollution control the white moths are apear more becuase the blend better with white than grey moths do and so are not eaten as much. Evolution? I dont think so, natural selection. Now, for another hole in evolution. Carbon dating. carbon dating is based on a ratio of carbon and i think nitrogen. the ratio changes over time, and from place to place. what the "evolutionists" do is trust that the ratio between carbon and nitrogen is the same then as it is now. they have looked at trees, trees that hundreds of years old (they do exist) and found that in ring A of a tree the ratio is not the same as in ring B. also, a college student at some big university snuck a snail that ONLY a COUPLE of DAYS old in to be carbon dated.. the result was either a couple THOUSAND or MILLION years. chew on that one for a bit. Hole number 3: fossils. now, evolutionists say that apes turned into humans and dinosoars went to lizards and whales came from dogs and stuff like that. well, has anyone ever actually seen a transition? anyone ever seen a dinosoar with feathers and wings "turning into a bird"? nope. thats cause they dont exist. it would be impossible for a dog to live in the ocean with half a flipper, half a rudder and small lungs. and if the transition animal cant live in the transition form, how is the animal that resulted from the transition goin to come about? evolution takes millions of years, how could a hafl dog/ half whale exist in the inbetween for so long? even the "short evolution" that only takes a few years in which the transition form would have to live. Thats about all the holes i can think of right now, tho there are many more i just dont remember them all.
First, you spelled it wrong. is vestigial. How do you know that they dont serve any purpose? Just becuase you can't detect their usefullness with instraments and such doesn't meen that they dont server a puropose.
Hmm well. This is a very big subject as both religion and evolution is involved. Personally I always want to see things from the point of understanding and acceptance of differences. Acceptance doesn't necessary mean agreement. I don't think I can go firther into this. First because I don't know this Dagny what person it is. Never heard about him/her or most of the others I'm afraid. SO i'm leaving this debate here. I'm 100% convinced in what I believe in as it is based on logic, as well as it glues both the bible and evolution togehther to one piece. It includes God, our free will, our freedom , responsibilties honesty... etc How? I'm not gonna answer that here. It would take to much space. So I can understand you Josh fully but I also have an understanding for those who attacks what they actually are afraid of. Fear Josh is what leads to attack. fear because they don't understand and they can't see. I can only say what i said before: love, understanding, acceptance and honesty.. that's my guide. heh, i sometimes have that affect.... i was prety much sayin that the white moths showin up more than the grey moths when the trees are white and the grey moths showin up more than the white moths when the trees were grey was natural selection. the white moths weren't seen by the predators as easily when the trees that the moths lived on where white, and the same with the grey moths when the trees were grey. as for the carbon dating, i was just pointing out that it is not accurate. hope that helps a little
